Let’s talk about Franklin City Professional Firefighters Local 3742 for a minute. From food drives to flagpole support, these guys and gals are ALWAYS willing to help despite their incredibly important work for our community’s safety. Today, they came to our rescue by retrieving the tattered American flag and replacing it with a bright, beloved new one that proudly flies over Main Street in front of the pantry. They’re always willing to help us, even when we accidently set the fire alarm off while changing the batteries 😬 (appreciate you, Chief Stitzel)! We can’t thank you all enough for the work you do for our community! 💚 Thank you.

We’re currently seeking a local farmer or livestock owner interested in a regular pick-up on Fridays. We typically have bread/dairy/produce that will not be adequate for distribution on Mondays. We whole-heartedly believe in zero waste and like to pay it forward by giving to animal owners who can use it. Please send a DM or email to [email protected] if interested.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at our morning. Farm fresh eggs regularly donated or delivered to us are individually washed and repackaged into 12 count cartons on Thursdays. It’s a dirty, tedious task but our volunteers believe every person that comes to our door will benefit from fresh, clean, nutritious eggs. Every cart that goes out the door has fresh eggs in it. Mary Loose and Jamie Kruithoff are always egg-static to get down to business!

Our small but mighty crew this afternoon really showed up! We had a few volunteers out and we missed them, but the ones that were there processed over 600 lbs of donations from various community members. Thank you to all who stopped by with donations today…you really are so appreciated!
A special shout out to Bishop Fenwick High School for their donation drive! These three lovelies delivered the goods and helped unload them-prom nails and all!! Thanks, girls.

To today’s crew…Patty, Anne, Susan, Kathy, and Mike…even short-staffed, you guys jumped right in wherever it’s needed and we’re SO grateful for you!

Today, while the boss lady was out, the Wednesday day crew held it all together beautifully…was there a doubt? 💚
After the morning crew prepared everything for distribution, the day team served 17 hungry families in our area. The evening crew took over from 5-7 tonight and served another 12 families. The Director, Allison, says to this “I never have a doubt that the volunteers can handle things! I have such an amazing, seasoned group of loved ones at the pantry. It really is an honor to serve the community alongside them.”

If you are struggling with food insecurity in our area, please know we are here with emergency food assistance and a smile.

Today, our volunteers started the day by moving shelving to prepare for a new (to us) freezer. Our incredible volunteers picked up hundreds of pounds of food, processed it, and got it into the hands and bellies of 75 neighbors! A well-deserved thank you goes out to our terrific Tuesday crew! 💚

This week, we shine a light on our hard-working volunteers! They are so important to us from the work they do to show the community they care to the strong bonds we hold as the Pantry family. Today, they used their own vehicles to pick up 1,983 lbs of retail rescue donations. They unloaded a truck with almost 4,000 lbs of items. They carefully processed the donations to ensure they were of good-quality to share with our neighbors. They served our neighbors with love and respect, made meat bags to distribute, loaded up donations for the farmer, and so much more! We are blessed to have our Monday volunteers. Thank you, guys!! 💚
