The President’s Award is a special honor presented each year to an individual who has shown outstanding service to the community and/or the Northwest Warren County Chamber of Commerce. It recognizes quiet dedication, consistent support, and a willingness to show up, contribute, and make a difference — often behind the scenes.

This year’s recipient, Karen Nicely, is someone who continually goes above and beyond to make Carlisle a stronger, more connected community. Through her service on the Carlisle Area Historical Society Board of Directors, her involvement with the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Board, and her active participation with America250, she has consistently stepped forward to give her time, energy, and leadership to causes that enrich our community.

Perhaps most notably, she has led the Wreaths Across America program for the past two years, honoring veterans and creating a meaningful tradition that has touched so many throughout the community. Her commitment to service, preservation, and community pride truly embodies the spirit of this award. Please join us in congratulating this year’s President’s Award recipient—Karen Nicely!

It’s finished! The mural on the corner of 4th and Main is complete - and it’s stunning! 🙌🏻🤩 We hope you get the opportunity to come see it soon, because it really does look even more amazing in person. Some of you have been curious about the story behind the mural, so here you go: 😁

Building upon Franklin’s collection of award-winning public art, this vibrant new installation transforms one of downtown’s busiest intersections into a striking centerpiece that celebrates Franklin’s identity, history, and momentum.

The mural’s design draws inspiration from two defining symbols of Franklin—the kite representing our city’s namesake and the Great Miami River that shapes our western border. Flowing river elements blend with the bold geometric lines of a kite in flight, creating a dynamic design that radiates from the center of the intersection.

By day, the streetscape chandelier cast unique shadows across the mural, adding another layer of visual interest. At night, the decorative lighting complements the artwork and creates an entirely different experience in the heart of downtown.

Featuring colors inspired by the City of Franklin logo, the mural adds another unique landmark to our growing downtown arts district and creates an unmistakable sense of place for residents and visitors alike. 🪁

A special thank you to Human Nature, Inc. for their creative design work and Black Art Speaks for bringing this vision to life. We appreciate their talent, dedication, and partnership in helping make downtown Franklin even more vibrant.

Be sure to stop by, check it out, and experience Franklin’s newest piece of public art!
