Today, nearly 100 dogs and cats have been entrusted to the care of the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society.

Every time a foster family opens their home to a CHHS shelter pet, space becomes available for us to rescue another animal in need. One pet receives all the comforts of family life while awaiting a forever home, and another gains access to the safety and care of our shelter.

We have a missing cat. She is 3-4 years old, solid black, with amber eyes. Her name is Obsidian and she is microchips. She went missing this past weekend in cowee valley.

I have included a few pics if you can help post something...

Meet Peeta! โค๏ธ

Peeta already has his forever home waiting for him, but heโ€™s remaining with staff until heโ€™s medically cleared.

This little guy became very sick, but thanks to the dedication of Autumn and our staff, he has been nursed back to health and given every chance to recover. Weโ€™re so grateful for everyone who worked tirelessly to help him pull through.

The good news is that Peeta is now eating and drinking on his own again! ๐Ÿพ

Heโ€™ll continue to stay with staff overnight so we can monitor him closely and make sure he keeps getting stronger. Thank you to everyone who has been cheering him onโ€”we know his future family canโ€™t wait to bring him home once heโ€™s fully recovered. โค๏ธ

Due to the extremely high number of cats currently entering our shelter, Appalachian Animal Rescue Center is temporarily unable to accept any additional cat intakes for the next two weeks.
