Happy Fun Friday from The Community Care Clinic of Franklin team! Today we hosted the summer kids group from Trimont Christian Academy for a rock painting party. Next week they will hide their rocks around town to help spread summer joy! So much fun!!! Look at this great group of students - hopefully some will consider a career in rural healthcare one day.....

Thank you WNC Jeepfest for continuing to support our clinic. Your generous grants help us serve the uninsured low-income patients of Macon and surrounding counties. Our team recently completed onsite training to better assist our patients with mobility issues. The class was led by Anita Schaul who is a retired physical therapist (and volunteers at our clinic). Anita provided great information on:
1. Safe and efficient methods to move and transfer patients while minimizing caregiver back strain and preventing patient injuries.
2. We also learned how to properly assistive devices - gait belts, walkers and canes.
3. Safe lifting procedures and so much more!

NC MedAssist will be at our clinic tomorrow - Wednesday, June 17th from 10am-4pm. Stop by to see if you qualify for our Medication Assistance Program. We had so much fun at our Herb Workshop on Saturday! Thank you Winding Stair Nursery and Franklin Farm Hub for sponsoring our event. We learned tips and tricks for successful herb gardens, got our hands dirty, shared laughter, made new friends and raised money for our free clinic! Recipes were shared to encourage fresh herb usage when cooking and we all went home with a herb garden!

We had a wonderful surprise visit from Aiden Nelson today. Aiden volunteered at our clinic for a year during his senior year at WCU. He volunteered as a Medical Assistant at our old location, helped with fundraisers and helped us move into our new location.
"Thank you Community Care Clinic of Franklin for allowing me to volunteer with you. I am writing because I have been accepted to a Medical School and the CCCF played a big part in my why. I would like to thank Cindy, Cheryl, Hannah, Sarai, Cody and Chloe for allowing me to learn and gain experience in the field. I have been working with MAMA continuing to serve Franklin with the ground and flight crew for the past year. I have seen and learned much and am excited for what the future holds. God Bless, Aiden Nelson"
