Mountain Mama Canine Rescue's mission is to help shelter dogs from rural Western North Carolina's Appalachian region find loving forever homes. MMCR accepts only dogs from WNC shelters for fostering and home placement. MMCR's goal is to provide specialized foster care that supports the medical, social, and emotional rehabilitation that dogs have experienced trauma or long term stays in shelters. I
f an MMCR dog in foster is not the right fit for an individual, MMCR will help match you/your family's needs with a shelter dog that exhibits desired qualities from a local WNC shelter. MMCR allows out of state adoptions. MMCR has an adoption process that includes a home visit (virtual if long distance), vet references, and a phone interview with possible adopters. MMCR operates based on charitable donations. All donations (our cause all funding supports) go directly to the dogs' medical needs, monthly medications, rehabilitation items, food, toys and other items that relieve anxiety, and any travel costs associated with the dogs' medical treatments or adoptions.
