The work of a foster, adoptive, and kinship parent matters deeply. It matters to the child placed in their home, to the family they're loving, to our society, but mostly—it matters to God.

But also—foster, adoptive, and kinship parents ALSO matter to God. Their hearts and souls are often weary and burdened from their day-to-day. They need to fill their cups, whether that is through regular rest and recharging, connecting with others, or learning new practices they can implement. Having community and support empowers them to keep doing this important work.

If you are a foster, adoptive, or kinship parent, we have an event on Saturday, October 10th from 9-1 at Grace Baptist Church that was designed specifically for you. There will be a coffee bar with specialty coffee, a delicious breakfast spread, breakout sessions with topics that will meet you right where you are, an encouraging message, and a chance to just be with the Lord, remembering to abide in HIM. Childcare is available for children from birth to 12th grade!

If you know a foster, adoptive, or kinship parent, send them this invitation! We'd love to have them.

Mark 4:26-29

He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

This work of parenting, especially vulnerable children and those who come to us with adverse histories, is the work of the Kingdom of God. It is scattering seeds, praying that they sprout, praying that God will make an increase, praying that the work you are doing and the prayers you are praying are not in vain. In this parable in Mark, Jesus says that the man who scattered the seed does not know how the seed sprouts and grows, but it does. God calls us to scatter the seeds, but he makes the seeds grow.

God is working behind the scenes—growing and sprouting and breathing life into the our kids (and us), but sometimes it's hard to see. Sometimes the growth takes longer than expected. But God is working. He is making all things new. He is for us and for our kids. We can trust him when we obey his call to build his Kingdom here. We can stay faithful and do not grow weary of doing good. We can rest and abide in His power, stop striving, and trust that the God of the Universe will do what he said.

What a beautiful Saturday morning at Abide!

Forty foster, adoptive, and kinship parents gathered to worship, pray, laugh, cry, and be reminded that we are not alone.

Thank you to every parent who joined us and shared this sacred space. And a very special thank you to Fielder Church for graciously hosting Hope Local and lovingly creating a handmade card for every parent. That thoughtful gesture meant more than you know.

We left feeling encouraged, connected, and so very loved. 💐

Our next Abide will be October 10th!

🎉 WE JUST HIT $8,000! 🎉

We’re only $2,000 away from reaching our North Texas Giving Day goal—and we have just a few hours left!

Every gift helps Hope Local equip churches to care for vulnerable children and families right here in our community. Whether you give $10, $25, $100, or share this post, you’re helping us move closer to the finish line.

Will you help us reach $10,000 before time runs out?

Last week, some of our team met up at Communities Foundation of Texas to share more with them about our organization, our work in advocating for kids in need of families, and our goals for the next year. But when we showed up, they started cheering (with their awesome green pompoms and surprised us with a huge $5,000 check for North Texas Giving Day!

It was an unexpected blessing, and we are so thankful!

Their gift (and yours) allows us to continue doing the work of keeping families together when possible, equipping the church to support foster, adoptive, and kinship families, advocating for kids who need forever families, and recruiting people to get involved in caring for vulnerable children and families.

This work is our joy! Help us get to our $10,000 goal!
