Founded by a 10 year old girl after she was hit by a car, inspired by her recovery Summer is now helping kids at Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL. Summer donates 100% of the proceeds annually to the Child Life Program. Join Summer in helping children during their stay at the hospital & Donate Now to help make a difference in the life of a child. Summers goal is to promote a healthier recovery of the whole child, she wants kids to just feel like kids & have an inspiring experience.
Summers Story:
New Years Day 2015, Summer was tragically hit by a car while playing outside in her neighborhood, she was rushed to now Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL by ambulance. There she spent 4 long days being treated. Once released she was bound to a wheelchair then relied on the use of a walker for months. Despite everything, the level of care provided to Summer, and her family during such a difficult time was unbelievable. If it was not for the level of care she received her recovery may not have been the same, thanks to what is now known as Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWFL Summer is today back on the soccer fields healthy and happy & with a whole new perspective on life.
As you can imagine something such as getting hit by a car is enough to make you appreciate a lot of things in life. Summer wanted to pay it forward to ensure all future patients receive the same inspiring level of care she received during her stay, so she created Summers Project in 2016. For the last 5 years, Summer has been raising awareness & funds for her cause by way of collecting donations & also selling homemade cookies & donating proceeds. Summers Project has donated over $12,000 to date!
Summer has plans to grow Summers Project by continuing to spread the awareness and increase donations each year. Donations from amazing people like YOU, WILL make a difference in a child’s life, just ask Summer. The Child Life Team plays a critical role in a childs recovery, they help the children cope with stress and anxiety, they assist children in feeling safe & take their minds off why they are in the hospital. Please consider making a donation today, every donation counts!
