❤️🚚 From Quito to El Topo: A Truck Full of Kindness!

This weekend, we hit the road with a very special mission: delivering donations from Quito to families in the El Topo community. 🐾❤️

From miles away, individuals and organizations chose to stand with the communities in Cotacachi that battled the fires, and lend a helping hand to collect supplies when they were needed most 🤝✨

Excellence in Action | August 2026 | Amici Cannis

This month, we proudly feature Amici Cannis Foundation, our first recognized Rabies Center of Excellence in Ecuador, South America. As we head towards World Rabies Day 2026, the team at Amici Cannis lives the theme of Stronger Together every day. Supported by Boehringer Ingelheim through its Stop Rabies campaign, Amici Cannis have been able to expand access to lifesaving preventive care in underserved communities. This partnership has also strengthened their ability to protect both animals and people from rabies while advancing shared goals of education, awareness, and disease prevention.

Healthy People, Healthy Animals, Stronger Communities

We are incredibly grateful to Fundación Wichana for inviting Amici Cannis to be part of their community health outreach in Mojandita Curubí, Otavalo.

This special day focused on the well-being of both people and animals, bringing together a wide range of services for local families. Our team had the opportunity to care for over 50 dogs and cats, providing vaccinations, deworming, and health guidance to pet owners.

It was wonderful to see families arrive with their pets, eager to learn how to keep them healthy and up to date on preventive care. Their commitment to animal welfare was truly inspiring.

At the same time, Fundación Wichana provided a wide range of human health services, including natural medicine, dental care, and family planning support, while also organizing activities for children. Their holistic approach to community well-being is one we deeply admire.

We would also like to thank the Wichana team for their kindness and hospitality throughout the day, keeping all volunteers fed, hydrated, and well cared for.

This outreach reminded us that healthy communities depend on the health of people, animals, and the environment alike. We loved being part of this initiative and look forward to future opportunities to work together in support of rural communities.

Supporting Every Member of the Family🌞

In the communities affected by the wildfire, our mission goes beyond providing immediate relief. Through the generous donations received, we have been able to deliver feed for the animals as a way of caring for their wellbeing, and to thank the families who worked tirelessly to help extinguish the fire and protect their homes, neighbors, and land.

During these visits, we also learn about another challenge many families face: caring for a growing number of companion animals with limited access to veterinary services.

To help address this need, we have been providing veterinary support and offering sterilization services for dogs and cats. Sterilization not only improves the health and well-being of animals, but it also helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the number of animals that may later face abandonment or hardship. We're grateful to The Marchig Animal Welfare Trust for making this work possible. 🤩💫

❤️ Thank You for Supporting the Cotacachi Communities

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the families, animals, and communities affected by the recent fires in Cotacachi.

We are relieved to share that the fires surrounding Cotacachi are no longer active, and we sincerely hope the situation remains under control. The courage, dedication, and solidarity shown by local residents, volunteers, and firefighters over the past days have been truly inspiring.

Many families spent five exhausting days alongside firefighters, working tirelessly to protect their homes, animals, land, and natural resources. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to begin providing much-needed assistance to those most affected.

Our team will continue delivering aid to the families who were on the front lines of this emergency, as well as providing food and support for animals impacted by the fires.

Every donation, share, and message of support has made a meaningful difference. Your kindness has helped our community come together during a difficult time, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

🐾 URGENT: Help Us Find This Sweet Pup a Forever Home 🐾

This beautiful 6-month-old Golden Retriever mix is urgently looking for a loving family. 💛
She came into the care of Amici Cannis after being struck by a vehicle. Fortunately, she received the medical attention she needed and has made a wonderful recovery. During our efforts to reunite her with her owner, we learned that he is struggling with addiction and is unable to care for her.

We cannot return her to a situation where she is unwanted, nor can we leave her to fend for herself on the streets. She has been staying at our hospital for several weeks, and while we are grateful to have helped her heal, we urgently need to find her a safe, permanent, and loving home.

🏡 She is healthy, recovered, and ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family who will provide stability, care, and lots of love.

📢 URGENT: SUPPORT NEEDED FOR COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE COTACACHI FIRES 🔥

The fires affecting the Cotacachi area continue to threaten communities, wildlife, and livelihoods. Many families living near the affected areas are spending long days and nights on the front lines, working alongside their neighbors to protect their homes, land, animals, and natural resources.

Today, these families need our support.

We are collecting donations to assist both the people responding to this emergency and the animals impacted by the fires. We invite everyone who is able to contribute to join this effort.

✅ Priority supplies needed for people in the front lines:
Eye drops (Nazil or similar)
Oral rehydration solutions/electrolytes
Paracetamol (acetaminophen)
Gauze and burn creams
Protective goggles
Bottled water (2 litters +)
Dried fruit and nuts

✅ For animals:
Dog food
Cat food
Pig feed
Alpaca feed
Water for animals

Every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference for families and animals facing this crisis.
