NAI recently had the opportunity to attend the Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA) 2026 Annual Summit at Chippewa Nature Center in Midland, Michigan!

It was great to connect with fellow professionals and spend time with a community dedicated to advancing the work of nature centers.

Join us Wednesday, November 11, at the NAI 2026 Conference to hear our opening plenary session. Six Oakland leaders whose work is rooted in preserving culture and history and building stronger communities.

From preserving Ohlone traditions and Chinatown’s history to celebrating foodways, honoring the legacy of the Black Panther Party, and advancing equity in the outdoors, this panel will explore the people and stories that shape Oakland and the role interpretation plays in connecting people to these stories and places.

After nearly 25 years of dedicated service to NAI, today we say goodbye and celebrate Paul Caputo as he begins a new chapter.

Paul has helped shape not only NAI as an organization, but also the community that makes it so special.

From graphic designer and editor of Legacy to Executive Director, Paul has dedicated his talents, passion, and leadership to strengthening NAI. His impact will be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Paul, for believing in this profession, supporting our board and staff, building meaningful connections with our members, and helping NAI grow into what it is today.
