Liberty Baptist Church Florence We are the oldest Baptist Church in the Colbert/Lauderdale Baptist Association. We are Bible preaching and teaching. The vision of God's people.

Only 33 years after Alabama received its statehood, Liberty Baptist Church was established in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred Fifty Two. It must have been a joyous occasion that wonderful summer day in May of 1852 when the Lauderdale County Presbytery met at the Liberty Meeting House to review and approve the articles of faith for Liberty Baptist. It was agreed to take the scriptures of the

Old and New Testaments for our rule book for both faith and justice. The first Pastor was John L. Cypert and at the very first service the church received by profession of faith and examination 3 souls. Only four years after the doors were opened Liberty began the great Baptist practice of supporting missions and continues that today. We are over 160 years old and continue serving God and our community and missions around the world.
