Our Clean Campus Poster Contest is wrapping up soon! If your child is participating this year, this is a reminder that posters must be dropped off by Monday, April 6th at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. Please make sure that the fillable handout with all the student's and contact's information is securely attached to the back of the students poster. We are looking forward to seeing all the creative submissions!

Launching this month, a new effort from Keep The Shoals Beautiful will help highlight how our streets connect directly to the Tennessee River.

These small reminders are designed to raise awareness about how storm drains carry rain — and litter — to our waterways.

From your driveway to the curb, rainwater moves into storm drains and straight to our local creeks and the Tennessee River. What you see along the curb doesn't stay there. It flows downstream.

Help protect our waterways by keeping the curb clean and not letting litter flow!

Storm drains are designed to move rainwater off our streets quickly to prevent flooding.

Unlike sanitary sewers, storm drains do not treat water before it enters creeks and rivers.

That’s why preventing litter at the curb helps protect the Tennessee River and our entire watershed.

Please join Keep The Shoals Beautiful for this years Clean Campus Poster Competition - “Litter Free – Way to Be!” KTSB is partnering again with Alabama PALS to bring this competition to the Shoals! Grand prize winners will win a cash prize and a classroom party. Be on the look out for communication from your school or submit directly to KTSB at the Shoals Chamber.

Here is our tentative calendar for 2026! These cleanups are open to anyone who want to join. We have some more cleanups currently in the works and will have some additional ones pop up through the year. Exact dates will be posted on our website and social media as the events get closer. We look forward to working together towards keeping the Shoals beautiful with you!

Ever wonder where storm drains along the road or sidewalk lead to?

When it rains, water that enters the storm drains flow directly to local creeks and the Tennessee River. That means litter and pollutants on our streets can end up in our waterways. According to Keep America Beautiful’s 2020 litter study, waterway litter accounts for approximately 52.2% of the total litter reported. Keeping litter out of storm drains helps protect our river and local watersheds.
