With extra hot days continuing across Michigan, people taking certain medications—including those for mental health conditions—should take extra steps to stay safe. SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, beta-blockers, and other medications can make it harder for your body to cool down, which may contribute to heat illness. Ask your health care provider how your medications may affect your heat risk.
