On Friday, we had a chance to walk Hudson Park with the Ferguson Public Works members who mow the course. This gave us and them each other’s perspectives when it comes to course upkeep. After the meeting was over we parted ways with some firm handshakes, high expectations, a list of areas to make access easier and hopefully some disc golf converts(one downloaded Udisc while we were there.) Saturday we set off to do our part by opening up a number of access paths to fairways by removing overgrown honeysuckle, vines, downed trees and other detritus. We trimmed some fairways and overgrowth around baskets, cut down some low hanging branches, cleaned the long tees and tried to clear around one of the bridges. We also planted a couple of benches recently as well.
While this impromptu work day yielded a lot of results(not all may be visible to the average player), it will help our team members who maintain the grass and hopefully leave Hudson looking better than ever.
Once we get to the cool weather time of year, look for some heavy duty trimming, cleaning, mulching, rocking and maybe some rolling.
