Today, as apart of Fire Prevention Week, Champion Fire & Rescue had the opportunity to visit Mt. Pleasant Elementary School for a day of fire safety education with the students!

Our firefighters showed the kids around the fire truck, introduced them to some of our equipment, and taught them important fire safety tips, including what to do in the event of a fire.

We appreciate the opportunity to spend time with these students and help teach the next generation how to stay safe! A big thank you to Mt. Pleasant Elementary School for having us! đźš’

🔥⚡ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 ⚡🔥

October 4-10, 2026

This year’s theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is A Superpower!” 🦸‍♂️🔋

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day, but improper charging and damaged batteries can lead to dangerous fires.

🔌 Practice safe charging habits:
• Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
• Never charge damaged or swollen batteries.
• Charge devices on a hard, flat surface, NOT on beds, couches, or under blankets.
• Don’t overload outlets or power strips.
• Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
• Keep charging devices away from anything that can burn.
• If a battery becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, or gives off an odor, stop using it and move away from it.

A few simple habits can help prevent a lithium-ion battery fire and keep you, your family, and your home safe.

🔥Live Fire Training🔥

Today, our newest members got some great hands-on experience during live fire training. They worked on recognizing fire behavior and understanding how a fire develops, then put those skills into practice during a simulated basement fire.

Members also trained on ventilation techniques and coordinated hose movement, building the skills needed to work effectively as a team in challenging fire conditions.

Great training today and another step toward being ready when our community needs us!!
