Champion Fire Department Fire Department - We offer Fire, Rescue, and Basic Life Support services. As a result, we are always seeking to add more volunteers to our current roster !!

Our Current Fire Administration :

Deputy Chief- Grayson Sale
Captain- Darrell Williamson
Lieutenant- Dillon Hollar

We have NC Certified Firefighters, Wildland Firefighters, Technical Rescuer's and Water Rescue Technicians - along with other NC Rescue Specialties like Vehicle Extrication, Machinery and Agriculture Rescue, Ropes Technician and High Angle Rescue, etc. We also have

several career firefighters (work at paid depts when not volunteering), as well as Emergency Medical Responders and NC Emergency Medical Technicians for medical responses. About 70% of all fire departments around the country are staffed by volunteers, and / or a combination of volunteer / paid staff. If you are interested in giving-back by helping to serve the fire, accident and medical needs of the community - and if this sounds like it could be something you might be interested in, we hold meetings on Tuesday nights at 7pm at Champion Fire Dept. Come on by to check us out - and to learn how you too can contribute to the growing needs of the community - by serving as a volunteer fire fighter / first responder !!

Champion Fire/Rescue and Wilkesboro Fire Dept. Surface/Swiftwater Rescue teams came together for a joint training exercise focused on rescue boat operations, lake response plans, and victim management.

Both departments respond to incidents on W. Kerr Scott Lake and work together to provide water rescue services for our community. Training together helps strengthen communication, coordination, and interoperability between our teams, ensuring we can respond quickly, safely, and effectively when every second counts. Champion Fire/Rescue is currently on scene of a land search at the 1700 block of Fall Creek Rd. near the Devils Washtub. Please use caution in the area as crews work.
