Last day of camp! We are always sad when camp ends, but we’ve learned from prior camps that everyone needs rest by now! 🏕️ 🎣 🏊‍♂️ 🌲 🐖

After a delicious breakfast prepared daily by Nathan Foster, 16 (thank you!), we enjoyed a memorable devotion led by Robbie Suter, 10.

Robbie read Daniel 3:16 and Romans 10:9, “ If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Robbie prepared several questions for the group to respond to including “how do we know the Bible is true?” and “what is faith and when was a time faith got you through something?”

Adults and kids responded - some in tears - about how prayers have been answered, instances where they have been comforted by prayer and faith in Christ, how Christ has saved their life and declared that when we apply the teachings of the Bible to our lives, that the Bible works. It was a heartfelt, special time.

We set our dates for 2024 - June 19 - 22!

Day three was extraordinary! 🎣

After breakfast, we spent the morning catching trout & bluegill for dinner.

After lunch (thank you to the Suter family), we worked to clear brush around a recently discovered waterfall. The difference these guys made is incredible! Others will enjoy the waterfall for generations because of their service today.

Next, we cooled off with a swim in the trout stream. The water is cold & refreshing!

We finished filling & sealing time capsules & dads & their sons buried them in their secret places.

Last, we enjoyed a delicious dinner provided by the Luna family (thank you!) & enjoyed a thoughtful devotion prepared by Landry, 8. Landry read from John 19:28-37 about the moment Jesus dies on the cross & states “it is finished.” Landry spoke about prophecies from many years prior being fulfilled at that moment. Landry prepared thoughtful questions to lead our conversations about Jesus suffering & dying even for those who hated him. We discussed that we wouldn’t have been able to do the same.

It’s hard to believe we will be wrapping up tomorrow!

Day two was epic! We had a hearty breakfast early & we’re on the lake by 9 AM! A BIG thank you to Kevin Cain for allowing us to store our boat at this home & use his dock! 👏

After lunch (thank you Currie Gilbert), we worked on time capsules including writing letters to dads & sons, and experienced chicken harvesting. We talked about losing a life to save a life, and thanked the chickens for providing our nourishment & thanked God for giving us chickens. The boys removed feathers by hand & helped us cut chicken parts that were later grilled for dinner. They all did great!

We had two safety and shooting experts provide safety instruction & help the boys shoot targets with various fi****ms. Thank you, Danny Luna & Kevin Cain for preparing, donating many supplies & spending time with each boy.

After dinner (thank you, Joey Holder), Donovan, 9, provided a powerful message centered around Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything , but in every situation, by prayer & petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Donovan prepared questions & prompts for the group to respond to & there was an hour of honest conversation, testimonies and encouragement offered from boys & dads.

The day ended with a bonfire & s’mores!

Our annual boy’s camp is underway for the 16th year! Time with these boys, watching them grow physically, mentally & especially spiritually is the highlight of our year!

This year, all the boys have their dads attending camp with us. We have gone on a nature hike to waterfalls, built time capsules & had a wonderful dinner (thank you to Weston’s family)!

The favorite moments are sharing memories & life lessons from precious years, forming new relationships (kids and adults) and having a powerful messsge delivered by Nathan, 15, about the parable of the sower. We talked for an hour about how we need to choose friends carefully (those who are close to God & people that we want to be more like in terms of Godliness) and cultivating our soil/foundation so that seeds God plants in us & through us prosper!

Can’t wait for day two!

We have recently planted a stunning sugar maple tree in honor of our first group of Board of Advisors! 💚

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

Much love & gratitude from us!

Today we remember & honor a wonderful man. David has been a father figure, mentor & friend to Troy for more than 30 years & our families have grown up together. Most recently, David served on our board with the same passion and enthusiasm that he approached all things in life. He will be deeply missed.
