I tried to post this yesterday, but it didnt post it. Beautiful sunset that caught my attention with donkeys, Boo and Stanley, that had a red hue about them when i saw them, that brought the beautiful sunset to my attention. Sometimes, we need to take a time out to see the beauty of nature.

Temperatures were in the triple digits here at the rescue, and it was a hard working weekend for all involved! With the help of Maria and Mark, and the use of their skid steer, we put a major dent in brush cutting the pastures. We worked from morning until dark but got a big part of the pastures cleaned up. Thank you to volunteers Stephanie and Lily who came out Sat cleaning up fence lines. We still have more work to get done, but right now we are in need of some rest and recooperation after working under the hot sun for the past few days. What a weekend!

I was able to capture this special moment today with Pearl, and our dedicated volunteer, Joanie. Joanie has been at Crossroads almost every day soaking and treating Pearl's hooves. Pearl has a long road to recovery ahead of her and Joanie has been here soaking, treating her hooves to give Pearl the best chance of recovery and healing. So much love!! Thank you Joanie!! 😇

So thankful for Maria of Lucky's Legacy Equine Rescue. She is a good friend and we both try to help each other when we can. This weekend, Maria went above and beyond helping Crossroads. Her and her husband dropped off their skid steer and began clearing trees and obnoxious plants off our pasture. Being from the northern part of the country, it amazes me at how quickly pastures can turn into a jungle of trees, vines, and obnoxious weeds in a short amount of time. Thank you Maria for taking your weekend off to be here working to return our land to a more pasture friendly environment for our donkeys and Mr. Buckley, our rescue steer. Maria loves cows and Buckley loves people. So happy they could enjoy each other's company today.

The Donkey Express was on the road yesterday to Princeton, Kentucky to pick up 3 jennys. The owner was having some health issues and changes in life circumstances. She asked if we would take them into the rescue and keep them safe. It was a long day but we were glad we could be there for the owner and these 3 sweet jennys. We welcome Dani, Gregory, and Dylan to our Crossroads Family. And yes, they are male names, but she named them after each of her children. They were very well loved and we will do our best to find them another loving family.
