Myth: “Why don’t they just leave?”

The reality is that leaving an abusive relationship is often complicated and can be dangerous. The National Domestic Violence Hotline reports that, on average, it takes a survivor seven times to leave before staying away for good.

Fear, financial dependence, children, isolation, threats, and many other barriers can make leaving difficult. No one should be judged for how they navigate their path to safety.

This October, let’s choose to listen, support, believe, and stand with survivors.💜

💙 Community Partners Making a Difference

We are incredibly grateful to one of our dedicated Board Members, Ashley Wright, DMD, and her team at Fayetteville Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics , for their generous donation of dental services to survivors residing in our emergency shelter.

For survivors of domestic violence, rebuilding their lives often means addressing needs that extend far beyond immediate safety. Access to quality dental care can restore not only oral health, but also confidence, dignity, and a sense of self-worth.
Because of the generosity and compassion of Fayetteville Smiles, survivors in our shelter were able to receive much-needed dental services at no cost. This is what it looks like when a community comes together to support survivors on their journey toward healing and independence.

Thank you, Ashley Wright, DMD, and Fayetteville Smiles, for using your time, talents, and resources to make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors. 💜

Domestic violence can affect anyone and can take many forms, including physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, financial, and digital abuse. Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and help create a community where everyone feels safe and respected.
