Lend A Hand Up Lend A Hand Up is a nonprofit that raises help and hope for families in crisis. Lend A Hand Up is a 501(c)3 subsidiary of Dakota Medical Foundation.

Gifts raised through Lend A Hand Up are boosted to inspire and maximize the impact of generosity for families in crisis due to health issues, loss of life or other traumatic events.

Brewtus Brickhouse in West Fargo is hosting a benefit for Tasha Carlstad on Sunday May 30 from 2-6pm. Tasha was seriously injured while driving her daughter to daycare. Her friends and coworkers are hosting a benefit with a large silent auction to help her recover from medical expenses and lost wages. Felicien (Phil) Gubandja is a Registered Nurse at Sanford Health in Fargo in the Neurology unit. In February of this year, Phil was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Since March, he’s been undergoing chemotherapy treatments and recently learned that the best path forward is an amputation of his right leg to remove the cancer. Phil still has a long recovery ahead, including additional chemotherapy, physical therapy, and eventually being fitted for a prosthetic.

In April 2026, Cora Osowski, a sweet, spunky 9-year-old, was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that attacks the bones. Since her diagnosis, she has already endured two surgeries and is now facing an intense treatment journey: 12 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by another major surgery, and then 12 more weeks of chemotherapy.
The road ahead will be physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming, but Cora continues to fight with incredible courage, strength, and determination far beyond her years. Her strong spirit inspires everyone around her. She loves her family, friends, school, and being active. As the oldest of four children, she has always been a leader, protector, and bright light in the Osowski family.

On March 9th, Rhonda Van Norman was involved in a serious car accident that disrupted her daily life. She was unable to work for over six weeks and is now only able to return in a limited capacity as she continues to recover. The accident impacted her transportation, income, recovery needs, and every aspect of her life.

What started as concerning symptoms quickly turned into a series of life-altering diagnoses for Juan Sanchez. Juan is now living with 40% heart failure and only 12% kidney function. He has been placed on the kidney transplant list and has begun peritoneal dialysis at home — a treatment that requires him to be connected to a machine for 8 hours every day.
