A synod is a group of people on the way together. The word "synod" comes from the Greek words: syn meaning together, and hodos meaning the way. We are made up of over 180 congregations, 2 campus ministries, 2 outdoor ministry sites, a number of specialized ministry teams, baptized members, and rostered ministers spread out across the eastern third of the state. The synod covers approximately the

eastern third of the state of North Dakota and is divided into eight conferences:
1. Prairie Rose
2. Spirit Lake
3. Grafton
5. Grand Forks
6. Jamestown
7. Mayville
8. Wahpeton

We celebrate with synods across the ELCA who also held bishop elections this weekend! The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod elected Rev. Jennifer Dee; the Metro Chicago Synod elected Rev. Erik Christensen; and the Northeastern Ohio Synod re-elected Bp. Laura Barbins for a second term. Please join us in holding these synods and their newly elected leaders in prayer.

Our morning and afternoon plenary sessions were very full of the business of the church and some wonderful Bible study around the theme of baptism from our guest Bishop Regina Hassanally.

We heard from all the Bishop nominees, and celebrated ministry anniversaries as well as congregational anniversaries. Continue to hold our Bishop nominees and this assembly in prayer as they discern what the spirit is calling them to.
