Impact Foundation

Impact Foundation Impact Foundation exists to help your nonprofit reach its highest impact possible.

The Impact Foundation was formed through the innovative partnership of Dakota Medical and the Alex Stern Family Foundations, who witnessed a need for charities that went beyond granting dollars and included a demand for knowledge and skills by nonprofit leaders, particularly around fundraising. In 2005, the Impact Foundation was founded to build the capabilities of others to make the greatest impa

ct possible. With a goal to help improve the fundraising efforts of nonprofit organizations through assessment, training, and coaching. It is designed to be a vehicle of innovation and collaboration to provide member charities with experiences that both enrich and equip them to reach their goals and unleash their potential to create an even greater impact for those they serve. Over the course of the last decade, thousands of nonprofit executives have attended Impact Learning Company sessions and used its resources to become more effective fundraisers—increasing their impact exponentially. In 2008, the Impact Foundation led the efforts in shaping the overall strategy and training for a pilot giving day designed to stimulate giving activity online on in the month of February around the theme of Valentine’s day. This became Giving Hearts Day, which has raised more than $90 million dollars since its inception and is now one of the most effective giving days in the country.

The final High Impact Board honoree is BIO Girls! Founded in 2013, BIO Girls is dedicated to empowering adolescent girls to build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth. Through a thoughtful blend of mentorship, physical activity, and a structured curriculum, the program addresses the very real challenges of anxiety, depression, and self-esteem facing young girls today.

Serving girls in grades 2–6, each BIO Girls program session meets 12 times for 90 minutes, creating a consistent and supportive environment for growth. Each gathering weaves together meaningful lessons, a Christian devotion, small-group mentoring, and non-competitive physical activity—nurturing both heart and mind.

Now reaching girls across five states, BIO Girls continues to expand its impact and inspire lasting change. With deep gratitude, we celebrate your commitment to cultivating confidence, resilience, and joy in the next generation.

Our next High Impact Board honoree is Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley! Since opening in 2019, Furniture Mission has been steadily meeting a basic but often overlooked need—ensuring that individuals and families emerging from difficult circumstances have the furnishings that give comfort to a home. In just a few short years, their impact has been remarkable. Since 2020, they have served more than 3,800 families and distributed over 50,000 pieces of furniture!

Today, we’re especially thankful to celebrate alongside Furniture Mission as they mark the expansion of their warehouse. This milestone reflects not only growth, but a deepened ability to serve the community with generosity and intention. Help FMRRV celebrate by visiting their open house (3:00-5:00pm) with a short program and ribbon cutting at 4:00!

Congratulations on your warehouse expansion and on being named a High Impact Board. Our community is stronger because of you.

Our next High Impact Board Graduate is Down Home. Founded in 2017, Down Home helps families transitioning out of homelessness create comfortable, dignified homes by providing essential furniture and household items. They believe that a furnished home fosters the stability, security, and sense of belonging every family needs to thrive.

Serving the Fargo-Moorhead community, Down Home partners with local agencies to identify and refer families and individuals who qualify for their services. Once an application is approved, their team works closely with both the referring agency and the client to prepare for the transformation (move-in) day.

Since welcoming their first family at the end of 2017, Down Home has served more than 250 families, a powerful testament to their impact and intentional approach. Thank you, Down Home, for bringing comfort, dignity, and renewed hope to our community, and for helping so many truly feel at home.

The next High Impact Board graduate we are recognizing is Churches United. Since opening their doors in 1987, Churches United for the Homeless has been a steadfast source of hope and stability for the Fargo-Moorhead community. Guided by their mission to provide safe shelter, stable housing, nutritious food, and a path toward healing, they have built a model of care that meets people where they are and supports them toward a brighter future.
