Happy Monday!!

I would like to introduce our Vice President of Education, Cheri Nelson 👏👏👏

Cheri has been a Toastmaster for nearly 10 years and joined Toastmasters in order to meet people after moving to Fargo and become more comfortable speaking in public

From her Toastmaster's experience, she's become more comfortable thinking on her feet while speaking. We like to call that "impromptu speaking" (...very applicable for situations when you are, for example, unexpectedly called to speak during a meeting at work).

She's also learned how to prepare speeches (yes...there is a tried and true formula, and we, at Toastmasters, have "the goods")

If you are considering Toastmasters, here's what Cheri would say to you in person if she could...

"Our club enjoys helping people achieve their goals personally and professionally.

This is also a safe environment where it is safe to fail. Toastmasters helps people to fail forward!

We are constantly learning and seeing the successes that come from learning!

Hi!

I'm Sarah Skedsvold. I have a fancy big title within our club, that boils down to being the "Impression Setter"

COVID-19 response has led us to make our club WAY MORE accessible for just about anyone, and I'm loving that

I've been a Toastmaster for just over 6 months now. I joined because, while I have no problem speaking in front of people (I'd spent 20 years directing groups of Soldiers here, there and everywhere)...I have a hard time communicating a clear message.

Our weekly meetings offers me a place to practice, make mistakes and get better.

We have a wildly diverse group of members who have joined for a wide range of reasons (and you'll be meeting those folks over the next few weeks)

We had a great meeting last week welcoming new members to the group and also giving out some achievement awards. Great job everyone!

Great meeting today at Toastmasters as we welcomed 5 new members to our club and they gave their Toastmasters Pledge. Congratulations Tom, Joe, Taylor, Paul, and Jerome!

Also, we got our new banner in the mail today. YES!

Have you ever thought to yourself, "If I was a better public speaker, I could do some much more?". One of the best and cheapest ways to improve is to join a local Toastmasters club. Our group meets every Thursday at Noon at the Gastropub, and you are welcome to check us out!

Today we had a great meeting with Roger as our Toastmaster and myself as General Evaluator. Jennifer Geyer did a speech about the difference of being an Introvert and being shy, while Ashton Hansen evaluated her. Taylor Olson did his Icebreaker speech about a ski trip gone bad, while his co-worker Jessica Levi-Karls evaluated him. Margie Nanstad Strouse was our timer, and Tyler stepped up last minute to take the Table Topics role. Two guests even took part and one of those guests, Grant Mjelstad, actually won the table topics contest. He was asked what he would do with unlimited funds and 3 days.
He told us a story about a Harley ride to Montana...with his wife Taylor or course. Nice work Grant!

We will see you next week at Noon at the Gastropub for another great meeting. I am Toastmaster so you can bet the topic of the day is going to be fun!
