It was founded in 1965 and is a chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society. The Red River Theatre Organ Society (RRTOS) was organized and chartered on March 16, 1965 - approximately ten years after the start of its parent organization, the American Theatre Organ Society. Its membership is comprised of organ enthusiasts, organists, and technicians from the Fargo/Moorhead area. It is one of over
83 chapters in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. The RRTOS owns and maintains two Wurlitzer organs that are played regularly and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The chapter hosts an annual Silent Movie Night at the historic Fargo Theatre, presents noon hour “Holiday Pipes” concerts in December, and and produces various other concerts and events throughout the year. The RRTOS is is committed to providing educational and engaging programming and opportunities for all members of the Fargo, Moorhead, and surrounding communities through the music and art form of the theatre pipe organ.
