Memorial Day is a solemn occasion that prompts us to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices made by individuals who have given their lives in service to this great nation. Their valor has afforded us the liberties we enjoy daily, and it is our duty to pay tribute to them with dignity and reverence. Memorial Day originated in the aftermath of the Civil War as 'Decoration Day,' a time for devastated communities to honor fallen soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers. Initially observed on a national scale in 1868, the holiday was later expanded to honor all U.S. military personnel who have died in any conflict following World War I. The Fallbrook Garden Club is proud to participate in Fallbrook’s own Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony by providing floral arrangements for participants to decorate gravesites at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery. This traditional community-led event, hosted in collaboration with VFW Post 1924, took place this morning at 11:00 a.m.

The Fallbrook Garden Club would like to extend its sincerest appreciation to all attendees and supporters of the Botanical Treasures Plant Sale, which took place on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The event's success is a direct result of the unwavering dedication of numerous Garden Club members. We are grateful to the Club's Succulent and Native Plant Study Groups and other club members who propagated plants; members who contributed unique container plants, flowering plants, fruits, and vegetables. The native plants were particularly well received. The Unique Planted Containers were the highlight of the day. Other highly sought-after items included tomatoes and strawberries, lush houseplants, plumerias, and dragon fruit. We also would like to express our gratitude to the Sheriff Volunteers for ensuring everyone's safety by managing traffic and to the enthusiastic participation of the Fallbrook community, who purchased plants. The collective participation of everyone involved enables us to continue providing educational opportunities, civic beautification, public education, scholarships, and fostering lasting friendships among our members and community. The Fallbrook Garden Club would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who played a vital role in making Arts in the Park a resounding success. It's a testament to the power of community spirit that numerous dedicated groups come together to make this outstanding event possible.
Our member volunteers consistently find it incredibly rewarding to participate in this event. This year, we organized a bird feeder activity that allowed children of all ages to unleash their creativity, decorating vibrant bird feeders with enthusiasm. Despite the inclement morning weather, we were thrilled to see a remarkable turnout of approximately 250 children visiting our booth.

The Fallbrook Garden Club kicked off April with a vibrant celebration marking a major milestone - 95 incredible years of growth and community building. The festivities featured cupcakes, party favors, and an inspiring presentation on the club's rich history. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was also held to commemorate this achievement, and a certificate of recognition was presented by the office of Senator Brian W. Jones, honoring the club's enduring impact.

Do you love watching birds in your garden? If so, you will enjoy the next Fallbrook Garden Club General Meeting .
Date: February 24, 2026
Speaker: Debra Lee Baldwin
Title: How to Watch the Birds That Are Watching You
Topic: Attracting Native birds of San Diego into your Garden

Debra Lee Baldwin is a garden photojournalist, author, and former scout and writer for Sunset and Better Homes & Gardens. She gardens and bird-watches on a hillside half-acre in Hidden Meadows, north of Escondido.

Discover how to gently observe, enjoy, and assist your garden's avian guests throughout the seasons. Debra will introduce us to a dozen birds that we all have in our gardens; explain what makes each interesting and noteworthy; and show us easy, aesthetic, and entertaining ways we can attract---and even interact---with them. She’ll explain and show us what makes each one interesting or special, and will explain what-not-to-do’s. She will show beautiful and practical feeders, what to watch for, and how to help birds throughout the seasons with nesting, fledglings and migrating.

Discover more about Debra’s backyard birds on her website and in her YouTube channel’s bird videos.

January's Harvest to Table was a transformative culinary experience, empowering us to unlock our creativity in the kitchen. With Jessica's expert guidance, we discovered the art of combining flavors to craft exquisite, bite-sized treats perfect for a tea party.
As we worked together, experimenting with an array of ingredients - from jams and curds to fresh fruits and edible flowers from Jessica's garden - we created a truly spectacular spread. The result was a testament to our collective creativity and a celebration of the joy of sharing delicious food and warm conversation over a steaming cup of tea.
