💚💛❤️Today we are closed to honor and celebrate Juneteenth❤️💛💚

Juneteenth is a day of remembrance and celebration of the emancipation of slaves. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1st 1863, enslaved people of Texas didn’t hear about it until June 19th 1865 (two and a half years later!!!)

On Juneteenth we honor General Gordon Granger who arrived in Texas to deliver the news of the Emancipation Proclamation in person on June 19th 1865. His efforts demonstrate the significance of community coming together to inform, support, and uplift one another. 🖤🤎✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
