As NERSC grew, it became clear that the organization needed a stronger foundation for the future.

In 2004, NERSC became a 501(c)(3) and established a Board of Directors and planning committees.

This was an important moment in defining NERSC's mission, values, and direction.

What began as a group of RSCs coming together to share ideas was becoming a growing organization with a bigger vision.

Meet the NERSC Board | Amanda Leigh

Amanda has spent 13 years working in affordable housing and currently specializes in compliance at MaineHousing . She values being part of work that helps people access safe, quality housing and supports the RSCs who serve those communities. She’s been part of NERSC for just over a year and appreciates its strong sense of community and support.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys exploring Maine’s hiking trails with her son. 🥾 Her dream trip? Visiting Poland to explore her family’s roots.

And while she usually drinks tea, she admits she actually prefers coffee with plenty of flavored creamer! ☕

💙 Meet Karen Futoma!

With 32 years of experience as a social worker and director, followed by 9 years at CHFA, Karen brings a wealth of experience to her work. She’s also been part of NERSC for 9 years and especially enjoys the passion and camaraderie of our community.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her three daughters, cooking and baking, and caring for her dogs. 🐶

✈️ Dream trip: A cross-country adventure exploring the National Parks and the Canadian Rockies.
