Culinary Guild of New England

Culinary Guild of New England To support, promote and celebrate the culinary arts within New England's community of food profession

The Women's Culinary Guild was founded in Boston/Cambridge in 1979 by a group of female culinary professionals who yearned to connect with other women like them. Today, over50 years later, the Culinary Guild is still connecting kindred spirits, both women and men, including chefs, cookbook authors, food writers, caterers, publicists and those who are simply passionate about fresh ingredients and

a beautifully cooked meal. Membership dues are $75/yr

With your membership you are eligible to receive DISCOUNTS to the some of the area's most popular culinary stores and outlets! CHECK OUT www.culinaryguild.org to see all of the PERKS of membership!

Everything Portuguese has been having a moment—from pastéis de nata to bacalhau—and we’ve been especially craving tinned fish lately 🇵🇹

Our Guild members enjoyed an exclusive, members-only food & tasting tour at Portugalia Marketplace in Fall River, complete with a private look inside their incredible 20,000-square-foot store, followed by a curated sampling of cheeses, fresh breads, seafood, olives, wines, and more.

This one-of-a-kind specialty grocer has become the leading destination for Portuguese foods and home goods in the U.S. With over 1,700 Portuguese wines and spirits, a café filled with traditional baked goods, a prepared foods counter, and even a temperature-controlled salt cod room, it offers a true immersion into Portuguese culture and cuisine.

Members also explored the in-store design shop, Artigos, featuring fine china, handcrafted pieces, soaps, cork goods, and other unique finds.

Safe to say—we’re already dreaming about the next bite.

Best tea in Greater Boston at the Inn at Hastings Park enjoyed by 9 lucky members (one cancelation alas)! Exquisite sandwiches and pastries by a Paris-trained pastry chef. We spoke to the head chef at the inn's Town Meeting rsstaurant because the pastry chef was too busy performing her magic. We'll be back!

We mourn the loss of our friend and colleague Elle Simone Scott on Monday. We are grateful for her friendship and for being a big part of two of our biggest events: moderating at our International Women's Day event at Clarke Appliance Showrooms and as our featured speaker at our Opening Meeting in 2022 We send condolences to her beautiful and gracious mother, who joined us for our opening meeting that year.

Only one restaurant received a Michelin star in the inaugural Boston edition of the legendary guide! Several others received Bib Gourmands. Who do you think is missing and who shouldn't be there? Did any restaurant deserve three stars?

Culinary Guild Evening at Gibbet Hill Farm
Last night our Guild members enjoyed a truly magical farm-to-table experience at Gibbet Hill Farm in Groton.
We began the evening in the fields, where the staff welcomed us with cocktails, mocktails, and hors d’oeuvres among the growing crops. Spicy margaritas, watermelon-basil lemonade, beet cocktails, and mini tacos were just a few of the delights that set the tone for the evening.
Dinner was served on the covered porch overlooking the gardens, where we watched the sunset with glasses of Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc and Es Okay in hand. The first course — a beet, tomato, and corn salad with seed granola — was a standout that had everyone talking.
The family-style entrées that followed showcased the very best of late-summer harvest: swordfish with lemon, caper, and garlic, perfectly grilled sirloin with salsa verde, vibrant vegetable sides, and finally, a memorable parsnip cake with espresso cream cheese to finish.
It was especially meaningful when the team introduced us to the farmer who grew the produce we enjoyed and the chef who curated the menu. Hearing directly from them about their work and inspiration added a wonderful personal touch to the evening.
It was a night of great food, wine, conversation, and rustic charm — a perfect example of why farm dinners are such a special culinary adventure.

🐝 The Sweet Spot: A Honey of an Event! 🍯

We had a buzzing good time at The Sweet Spot: Everything You Wanted to Know About Bees & Honey, hosted by Janet O’Brien on International Women’s Day! 🐝🍯

Mary Duane, President of the Massachusetts Beekeepers Association and a Master Beekeeper, captivated us with her knowledge and an incredible honey tasting. She shared several distinct varieties, explaining the differences between monofloral and multifloral sources, as well as the culinary and medicinal benefits of honey. We also explored the chemistry behind raw and organic honey, the fascinating life cycle of honeybees, and their essential role in our ecosystem.

A huge thank you to Mary for such an enlightening and delicious experience! 🌼🐝✨
