***/UPDATE***
At approximately 5:00 PM today, the department received a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of Lindsey Street. The initial caller stated that a male individual was in possession of a firearm and attempting to break a vehicle window before disconnecting the call. Approximately one minute later, a second caller reported that a male was actively punching and kicking a vehicle and subsequently threw a large rock at it.
Shortly thereafter, multiple calls were received reporting gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers located spent shell casings on the ground.
A perimeter has been established, and our ESU and Patrol Officers are actively working to secure and clear the area. We ask that the public avoid the vicinity of the Lindsey Street and its surrounding areas to include the lower part of President Avenue and Davol Street Northbound. Keeping this area clear of congestion will aid officers the space necessary to operate safely and effectively. Thank you for your consideration.
This remains an active and developing situation, and information is limited. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
