For those of you who have asked about our beloved Gammy here is an update. I have been in Fort Myers getting him settled at his new home. A huge thank you to those who have donated. His flight was delayed due to needing a different type of carrier, so here is a pic of everyone's favorite guy shopping with Nana for a proper crate for his first plane ride ever. The following pics are of him arriving at the airport, then in his quarantine habitat, then pics of the aviary he will be staying in and some of his aviary-mates. So hard to say goodbye, but this was the best life we could give him to live out the rest of his 150 years. Loving an animal is putting their needs first always❤️😢🐢

A very special thank you, which isn't even enough to say, to our volunteers, Todd, Kristina, and Aaliyah for working tirelessly at getting the aquarium cleaned out with many tears. They have been there since the day we closed for many hours. It is not surprising because they have always been there through thick and thin. Our appreciation is immense for all your dedication and hard work.

As one of the admins here on the Aquarium page, I want to take a moment to give a huge thank you and express my gratitude to Melissa Cordeiro Ahaesy, her family, and all the volunteers who gave so very much of themselves to dream, plan, open, and run this aquarium for the people of the city of Fall River and the surrounding areas. The fight and drive in Melissa alone is something many of us could learn from. She mentioned it on a post here so I hope this is ok to say. If you look back at the pictures of the aquariums grand opening, Melissa is wearing a wig. She opened this aquarium while fighting cancer. She didn't give up even when she was facing the fight for her very life. She is one of the strongest women I know and I am proud to call her a friend.
I also want to say I am sorry. I am sorry to Melissa, her family, and the many volunteers, sorry that Fall River couldn't help sustain this dream of yours. Know that you have given so much joy to so many. Much love and hugs.

After fundraising for almost five years and open to the public for under 2 years we have collectively decided to close the Children's Aquarium, with our last day being Sunday, August 27th. We've decided to and donate our tanks and various species to Bristol County Agricultural High School so that our mission to educate will continue for years to come in Berkley, MA.

Despite support efforts from many friends, families and small businesses, the local banks and credit unions in Fall River did not feel the aquarium should receive Community Reinvested funds the last four years we applied and we simply cannot continue to exist on the budget we have now. We've spoken to the city about this six months ago, but unfortunately we were faced with dead ends around any grant money that could help us stay true to our mission.

We would like to say thank you to the individuals and small businesses who were kind enough to help us through the years. 95% of our sponsors are not residents of the city, so it's been appreciated that they were not just supporting us, but truly believed Fall River deserved a unique, hands-in learning center

We would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to those visitors who allowed us to be a part of their family experience. Teaching, creating, laughing and forming bonds with visitors has been a dream come true, even if it was for a short time.

Last but not least, to the volunteers: you MADE the aquarium the positive experience that it is and you are forever in my heart. You all amaze me every time I walk through those doors. Thank you for representing the aquarium with such maturity and class and being the reason there are 54 ratings on our FB page, ALL five stars. It has been an honor to be in your lives. ❤️
