As representatives of the community they are vocal advocates for OAR's mission. For more information about volunteering, please send an email to: [email protected] or call (703) 246-3033.

This past Sunday, we joined a panel at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Fairfax, Virginia to talk about what’s on the November 3rd ballot, including automatic voting rights restoration for returning citizens. These conversations matter. Thank you to everyone who showed up. 🙏

Some success stories take months. Matt’s took hours.

After attending our WEP orientation workshop in January, Matt stopped for lunch, still dressed in the shirt and tie he’d worn that morning, and struck up a conversation with the restaurant’s manager. Using techniques from the workshop, he made his pitch... and was hired on the spot.

We’re so proud of you, Matt. 👏

They’re making documentaries about everything right
now. 🎬

Our Executive Director Derwin Overton has a story
worth telling. 20+ years fighting for people coming
home from incarceration in Northern Virginia.

This is what second chances really look like.

Heritage is more than a month, it’s the stories, strength, and resilience our clients bring through our doors every day.

This Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15), OAR honors the Hispanic and Latino individuals and families we serve, and the community that makes second chances possible.

We don’t just serve our community. We celebrate it.

Last week, the OAR family came together for Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week, honoring the cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities with themed days, great outfits, and even better company.
