Mount Zion Baptist Church

For many years, Mt. Zion Baptist Church has supported us through generous donations, volunteer service, and a shared commitment to helping neighbors in need. We were delighted to partner with them again for .

A team of 17 volunteers contributed 136 hours of service to help Ms. R, who has lived in her Arlington home since she was 10 years old and now shares it with her daughter.

The team completed a variety of repairs and safety modifications including installing new outdoor lighting and a stair rail, repairing kitchen cabinets, installing smoke and co detectors, redirecting downspouts, completing yard work, and replacing Ms. R's broken dishwasher and clothes dryer—her favorite improvements.

The day also provided an opportunity for learning, as one of our longtime volunteers taught a team member how to replace a light fixture, leaving him smiling with pride at his new skill.

Thank you, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, for your continued partnership and dedication to serving our community!

Time is one of the most meaningful gifts we can give, and the M&T Bank volunteer team continues to demonstrate that year after year on

This dedicated group of volunteers once again joined us to help a local homeowner who is aging in place. This year's project focused on parging the wall leading to her basement entrance, improving both the appearance and durability of the space.

The team also planned to stain Mrs. C.'s wheelchair ramp, but with rain in the forecast, that work will have to wait for another day.

King of Kings Lutheran Church and Preschool shows what it means to serve with skill, patience, and grace on

The homeowner has lived in her home since 1980, and over time, many needed repairs had become too much to manage. This incredible volunteer team stepped in with care, completing a long list of deferred repairs to make the home safer, more functional, and more comfortable.

From installing handrails, grab bars, toilet safety rails, and safer lighting to repairing ceilings, gutters, trim, fencing, plumbing, electrical issues, and more — this team put in many hours of hard work. They also cleaned gutters, removed vines, repaired windows and screens, added railings and helped address other safety concerns throughout the home.

We are so grateful to King of Kings Lutheran Church for bringing not only their time and talent, but also kindness and compassion to this project. Their work made a meaningful difference for a neighbor who has called this house home for more than 40 years.

Since 1997, Ms. P has made her townhouse a home — raising 7 children and now enjoying time with her 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At 74, stairs had become a safety challenge, but thanks to 18 amazing volunteers from Herndon United Methodist Church her home is now safer and more accessible, and deferred maintenance has been addressed. The team installed new railings inside and out, repaired her fence and gate, addressed plumbing needs, and installed a safe dryer vent.

Ms. P is incredibly grateful for the care and kindness shown by this dedicated volunteer team. Thank you, HUMC for partnering with us to help our neighbors stay safe in the homes they love.

We are so grateful to have Grace Episcopal Church Alexandria VA as one of our newer community partners!

This year, their team of 25 dedicated volunteers spent more than 300 hours making repairs and improvements at a CRi supported living home — helping create a safer, more welcoming space for residents who are building skills, receiving support, and becoming more connected in their community.

The team repaired the front porch so residents can safely relax outdoors and enjoy the simple joys of neighborhood life — watching neighbors out for a stroll or walking their dogs. Volunteers also painted and cleaned up the yard, making a big impact both inside and out.

Thank you, Grace Episcopal Church, for your compassion, hard work, and commitment to strengthening our community!

Thanks to the incredible volunteer team from Dulin United Methodist Church this older homeowner and her daughter/caregiver now have a safer, more accessible home and peace of mind. Volunteers removed old iron railings and overbuilt brand-new front steps, replaced a rotted deck with a safe new one, installed a bathroom grab bar and tackled extensive yard clean-up.

More than the repairs themselves, this amazing team of volunteers brought compassion, encouragement, and hope. Their teamwork and dedication made a meaningful difference.

Thank you, Dulin UMC, for showing what neighbors helping neighbors truly looks like.

partner spotlight on ACCA - Annandale Christian Community for Action's Team 2.

Mrs. P originally reached out to RTAFF for drywall repairs, but after assessing her home, our team recognized several additional safety modifications that could make a meaningful difference in her daily life.

ACCA Team 2 stepped in to help by removing overgrown bushes blocking the front walkway so they could install exterior railings. They also added a second railing to both the main staircase and the basement laundry stairs for added stability and peace of mind.

Beyond the safety upgrades, the team completed a major yard clean-up, painted the kitchen, and tackled several other repairs — helping Mrs. P feel safe, comfortable, and proud of her home once again.

Mrs. P shared: “The entire team was amazing from start to finish and the repairs were a blessing.”

Partner Spotlight! We’re proud to highlight one of two incredible ACCA - Annandale Christian Community for Action teams of volunteers who came together to make a lasting difference for a neighbor in need.

At this home—where Mr. B grew up and still lives today—his wife serves as his full-time caregiver as he navigates serious health challenges. Thanks to the dedication of ACCA volunteers, the home is now safer and long-overdue repairs have finally been addressed.

This project is part of a long-standing partnership with ACCA that began in 1990. ACCA teams have repaired 136 homes and nonprofits and contributed more than 4,000 hours of volunteer service to RTAFF.

It’s more than repairs—it’s about dignity, safety, and community.
