Congrats to NOVABAA Member Tamika Jones, Esquire for being selected as the next Fairfax County General District Court Judge!

Ms. Jones attended University of Lynchburg and the Catholic University of America – Columbus School of Law. She was admitted to practice before the Courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2009.

Ms. Jones has practiced before the Fairfax Courthouse for many years, effectively handling both civil and criminal litigation in the General District Court, J&DR Court and Circuit Court. In 2021, she was appointed as a substitute judge by the Honorable Bruce D. White of the Fairfax County Circuit Court for the General District Court and J&DR District Court of Fairfax County. She regularly sits in both district courts for Fairfax County as well as in Prince William County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria.

Ms. Jones has an impressive array of experience in the legal field, including work as a law clerk, associate attorney, fair housing investigator, probation officer, special assistant the Federal Communications Commission, and special investigator for the United States Investigation Services. In 2009, she opened her own practice where she primarily practices criminal defense and civil litigation matters, including landlord/tenant disputes, traffic violations, misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses, and other areas of law. She also serves as court-appointed counsel, guardian ad litem, and counsel in civil commitment hearings.

Ms. Jones is an active member of the Fairfax County Bar Association and serves on the Virginia State Bar Council as representative for the 19th district (Fairfax County) since 2022. She is a contributing member of both the Old Dominion Bar Association and the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys’ Association. She also serves on the Virginia State Bar Lawyer Referral Service Committee, Virginia State Bar Lawyer Insurance Committee, and several other committees.

We are glad to hear that another one of our members will be taking the bench! Congrats to you Judge Jones!
