Thank you, Safeway! 🛒💙

On Friday, we joined the Safeway team at the grand reopening of their newly remodeled Pan Am location, where they presented FACETS with a $5,000 donation for our food assistance programs.

This gift will help us keep providing food to neighbors in need across our community. We are grateful for Safeway's continued partnership and their commitment to ending hunger right here at home.

Congratulations on the beautiful new store!

Dolly Parton grew up in a one-room cabin in the Smoky Mountains, one of twelve kids, without running water or electricity. She talked about that childhood often, and never with shame. Poverty was never who she was. It was just a circumstance she lived through.

That distinction matters. The people we work with at FACETS are parents, neighbors, coworkers, kids — full people navigating a hard circumstance, not defined by it. Dolly understood that instinctively, and she spent her life trying to make sure fewer people had to fight their way through it alone.

We're grateful for that legacy today. Learn more about FACETS and how you can get involved in work centered in humanity and dignity: www.facetscares.org

The cold isn't the only dangerous season.

We picture homelessness in winter: coat drives, warming centers, emergency shelters. But summer's heat is just as dangerous. Think pavement burning through worn-out shoes, or dehydration for someone sleeping in a car with no shade.

1,342 Fairfax students were identified as homeless this past school year. Now school's out, and many are riding out the heat in a car, a motel room, or doubled up with another family.

Homelessness doesn't take the summer off. Neither does FACETS. Your gift today protects neighbors from the weather, in any season.

When you donate to FACETS, you help us move individuals and families out of crisis and out of homelessness. Your time, money, or expertise helps us offer life-saving social service programs—and makes a lasting investment in the well-being of our community.

Yesterday, we were honored to be a recipient of HomeAid National Capital Region's annual Builders for Babies Drive. Their team delivered two truckloads of diapers and wipes in support of our mission to serve our youngest neighbors and their caregivers.

For the families we serve, a gift like this offers real relief — one less thing to worry about, so they can focus on building stronger futures for their little ones.

Thank you, HomeAid NCR!

Across Fairfax County, an estimated 45,000 children will start school this fall without the supplies they need. Our Back to School Drive runs now through July 31st, and your gift puts a fully stocked backpack in a child's hands before the first bell rings.

We're at 600 backpacks and counting. Help us keep going:

This winter, Fairfax County saw 35 days at or below freezing. On those nights, our neighbors experiencing homelessness needed somewhere safe to go.

Because of you, they had one.

From Thanksgiving weekend through April 1, 42 faith congregations opened their doors every single night and welcomed neighbors ages 20 to 82 in from the cold. This season, FACETS also expanded into the Bailey’s Crossroads region, growing our incredible network of partners.

Since 2004, this program has helped prevent deaths and serious injuries among our most vulnerable neighbors. Behind every congregation is something even more powerful. Volunteers who show up year after year, offering warmth, care, and dignity when it matters most.

To every congregation, volunteer, and donor, you are the reason this works. Thank you.

Want to be part of it next season?

April 30 is just four weeks away and seats are filling quickly for FACETS by the River.

This evening is about coming together as a community to better understand what it takes to address poverty and homelessness right here in Fairfax County.

You’ll hear directly from the people behind the work—local leaders, faith partners, donors, clients, and frontline caseworkers—all sharing how collaboration is creating real, lasting impact.

Because the reality is:
• More than 60,000 of our neighbors are living in poverty
• Over 1,300 are experiencing homelessness
• 1 in 3 working families are one unexpected expense away from crisis

In a place with so much, these challenges can feel surprising—but they’re also solvable.

FACETS is proud to be part of the partnerships making that possible every day.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening that truly matters.

Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s action.

This Valentine’s Day, 7 neighbors in our Permanent Supportive Housing program are preparing for life-changing moves — into safer homes, greater stability, and increased independence.

These transitions must be completed by March 5, and they come with real costs our clients can’t cover alone.

From move-out prep to full housing transitions, every gift helps turn progress into stability.

February is Black History Month—a time to reflect on history and a moment to act today.

In Fairfax County, Black residents make up 11% of the population, yet nearly half of those experiencing homelessness. This disparity is not accidental. It reflects long-standing inequities rooted in policies and systems that continue to shape access to housing and stability.

The need is growing, and FACETS is growing to meet it. This year, Fairfax County entrusted FACETS with Bailey’s Shelter and Supportive Housing, expanding our work in shelter, outreach, healthcare, and stabilization services.

With your support, FACETS has:

• Provided 62,000+ nights of shelter
• Prevented nearly 800 evictions
• Helped hundreds move into stable housing
• Kept 500+ people safe each winter

This work saves lives. We choose to see people. We choose to act.
