October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and reaffirm our commitment to creating safer communities.

Mercer County is proud to support the work of Younity which provides critical services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence throughout our community. With 24-hour crisis support, safe housing, counseling, advocacy, and other resources, Younity plays an important role supporting survivors in our region and helping them to find safety, support, and a path forward.

Continuing education. Strengthening our response.

At the beginning of October, Captain Platt and FF/EMT Dziminski represented IAFF Local 77 at the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety & Kean University’s 40-Hour Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) Certification Program.

The program provided an opportunity to build upon existing ARFF experience through specialized, hands-on training at Newark Liberty International Airport, Atlantic City International Airport, and Middlesex County Fire Academy.

Training included aircraft familiarization with commercial and military aircraft, advanced search techniques, and practical foam and dry chemical firefighting operations.

In ARFF, continuous training and professional development are essential to maintaining proficiency, refining our skills, and ensuring we’re prepared for the unique challenges of an aircraft emergency.

Train continuously. Build proficiency. Stay ready.

Earlier this week, members of IAFF Local 77 took advantage of the beautiful fall weather to complete their required recurrent FAA Part 139 airfield familiarization training.

Knowing the airfield goes beyond meeting an FAA requirement. Understanding signage and pavement markings, runway and taxiway layouts, and airfield topography is critical to safe operations and an effective response during an aircraft emergency.

When seconds matter, familiarity with the airfield can make all the difference. Continuous training keeps our members prepared, vigilant, and ready to respond.

Train with purpose. Stay vigilant. Be ready.

October looks a little different at Station 34!

Our breast cancer awareness shirts are in, and members of Local I-77 are proudly wearing them as our uniform throughout October. With every shift, we’re showing our support for those facing breast cancer, honoring those we’ve lost, and standing alongside survivors and their families.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a shirt and supported this year’s fundraiser. We’re proud to wear the same pink you helped put into our community.

Welcome to Trenton–Mercer Airport, Breeze Airways! ✈️

Members of IAFF Local 77 were proud to help celebrate Breeze’s inaugural service at TTN by providing a traditional water-arch salute as the aircraft departed.

We’re excited to welcome Breeze to our airport community and look forward to safely supporting their crews and passengers for many flights to come. Here’s to an exciting new chapter at TTN!

It has been a busy few days for the members of Trenton-Mercer Airport Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 77.

In addition to completing our monthly training and handling various calls for service, our members responded to three separate aircraft emergencies—one on each of three consecutive days.

Fortunately, all three aircraft landed safely, the incidents were resolved without further issue, and no injuries were reported. Through every training evolution and emergency response, our members continue to demonstrate the preparation and professionalism required to protect the Trenton-Mercer Airport community.
