Where’s the battery? Discovery at a Snohomish County Solid Waste facility is like finding a dangerous needle in a haystack. When punctured, batteries can start fires and produce toxic smoke that is dangerous for our staff and first responders.

Dispose of batteries safely and for free in the recycling area of our facilities. Locations can be found on our website: bit.ly/SWfacility

Additional disposal locations can be found on The Battery Network's website: batterynetwork.org

You may know the Repair Cafe fixes bikes, jewelry, clothing, electronics, lamps, vacuums, toys... okay you get the idea.

But did you know we also have computer software experts? Our volunteers can debug your laptop, improve efficiency, help you navigate unfamiliar apps and software, and even put your device on a whole new operating system!

Linux is an alternative to Microsoft if your laptop is working fine but can't handle the upgrade to Windows 11. Come see as at the Lynnwood Library on Saturday, June 13th from 10am to 2pm and we'll get your device sorted!

With all the BBQs and kickbacks to come this summer, know you can safely dispose of your empty propane tanks at Snohomish County transfer stations!

A true grill master knows a couple of things: cook times, the perfect marinade, and (most important to us) where to dispose of propane tanks. Yes, you too can perfect the art of proper disposal. Bring used propane tanks to any Snohomish County Solid Waste facility. Find a full list of locations on our website: bit.ly/SWfacility

An amazing event hosted by our sister program WSU Promotores del Medio Ambiente! Remember the three Rs are in an order for a reason-- reusing clothing helps close the loop and keep textiles in a useful state and prevent unnecessary landfill waste.

Did you know that throwing batteries away with your normal garbage can cause fires once they are in the waste facility being processed? That is dangerous for the staff of the waste facility, the firefighters on the scene, and the environment itself. We must dispose of batteries (and other hazardous items!) properly at a Household Hazardous Waste site (HHW), a Transfer Station, a Drop Box, or another location that is not run by the county!

Snohomish County-run locations include the:
⚠️Household Hazardous Waste facility in Everett
🛬 Airport Road Transfer Station
🌵Southwest Recycling and Transfer Station
❄️North County Recycling and Transfer Station
🚮 Granite Falls Drop Box
♻️ Sultan Drop Box
🗑️ Dubuque Road Drop Box
Find out more about these locations here: https://snohomishcountywa.gov/465/Facility-Locations

In addition to batteries, other items that can be taken to a Household Hazardous Waste facility include aerosol spray cans, bleach, flammable liquids, insecticides, pesticides, paint, smoke detectors, and more! See everything they do/don't accept here: https://snohomishcountywa.gov/477/Hazardous-Waste

👋 Come see us at the Edmonds Library next Saturday, May 9th and get your stuff fixed! Broken blender, shirt holes, slow computer, bike tune-ups, necklace clasps... we do it all!

Repair Café! At the Edmonds Library!

Got broken stuff? Toss it? No way! Bring it to the Repair Café!
Have something you think can be fixed? The Repair Café is here for you!

Bring your vacuums, lamps, bikes, jewelry…anything you might have and one of our volunteer fixers will diagnose the issue and do their best to make it usable again. They will show you their process, order parts if necessary, and help you learn how you can do it on your own with videos or one-on-one instruction.

First come, first served. Two item limit per visit. An engaging art creation station using recyclable materials is also available for children who come with adults.

Simple fixes are repaired onsite; complex fixes repaired offsite and ready for pick-up after two weeks.

Check out this program in our neighboring county! If you or someone you know lives in Island County, this is a great program to learn more about the waste stream, recycling right, and how communities can make a positive impact on the environment.

Community members visited Lenz Enterprises Thursday in Stanwood. The field trip was the first of many this spring for the trainees involved in the Waste Wise Education program through the
