We are excited to announce two new members to our Board of Trustees: Megan Ramos ('14) and Daniel Meyers! Both bring extensive experience in student formation and leadership across both the higher education and nonprofit sectors.

Rev. Daniel Meyers received a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and is ordained in the United Church of Christ. Daniel first served in New York City as the inaugural Earl Hall Religious Life Fellow at Columbia University's Office of the University Chaplain, then directed the Center for Faith and Vocation (now called The Compass Center) at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. This role allowed Daniel to learn and grow at the intersection of higher education chaplaincy, religious diversity and inclusion work, and vocational exploration. Currently, Daniel is a hospice chaplain for Asante Health and works for the Network for Vocation in Higher Education (NetVUE), coordinating the online network and developing a chaplaincy initiative. Daniel's passions are hiking, climbing, running, and all things outside; live music in all forms; and continuing to accompany his spouse and two kids as a family.

Megan Ramos is a proud 2014 graduate of Trinity Lutheran College, where she earned a B.A. in Children, Youth & Family Studies (CYFS) after attending Trinity on a soccer scholarship. Megan currently serves as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Los Angeles Harbor College, where she focuses on mentorship, student success, and the academic and athletic development of her student-athletes. She is also the co-founder and president of Coyotes Futbol Club, a nonprofit youth soccer organization serving more than 120 families through affordable athletic programming, mentorship, and community resources. Megan’s work has centered around education, youth development, nonprofit leadership, event programming, and expanding access to opportunities for underserved communities. Megan lives in Southern California with her husband (also a Trinity alum) and two daughters.

Pau is a Trinity Scholar and Fellow. He is studying accounting and management at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington and his home town is just across the lake in Bellevue.

Trinity's support is powerful and Pau echos that impact in his own life, "Receiving this scholarship has been very meaningful to me, both academically and personally. As a first-generation college student from a middle-class family, this award has significantly eased the financial burden of my education, allowing me to devote more time and energy to my studies without having to balance work commitments. And because of this, I have been able to focus more fully on my academic goals and engage more deeply with my coursework. I am truly grateful for the opportunities it has provided and the impact it has had on my educational experience."

Reflecting on our coaching program in particular, Pau writes, "I feel particularly fortunate of the coaching package that comes along with this award. Prior to receiving this award, I'd never had any sort of coaching expereince and had always rely on my own knowledge to do things but now I'm realizing just how impactful it is to have another person's input."

Luther is a recent recipient of our Trinity Family Scholarship. He is embarking on the cinema and media arts program at Biola University in La Mirada, California and his home is in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Luther comes from a family who has been formed by the LBI movement and Trinity Education Foundation. His parents are LBIS alumni (including his uncle), his gradnparents are LBIC alumni, and his sister is a recent Trinity Scholar and Fellow. With this heritage embedded around him, Luther writes, "This award means so much! My parents (LBIS), grandparents (LBIC), and uncle (LBIS) were blessed by Lutheran Bible Institute/Trinity, and our family continues to be blessed now through the Trinity Education Foundation. Thank you!"

Reflecting on his vocational calling and God's creation and ongoing engagement in the world, Luther shares about how he meshes those realities with his own story and purpose, "All great art must contain a texture of goodness, and truth, along with beauty. I’ve already begun to apply these thoughts and skills to film reviews I make on YouTube, and I hope to apply them to everything I create in my life."

Grace is a recent recipient of our Trinity Flame Scholarship. She is studying nursing at Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington and her home is in Kenya. Grace says, "Receiving this scholarship is more than just a financial award. It strengthens my ability to live intentionally in patient care, community service, and leadership...This award fuels my purpose and desire to pay it forward to others. I can do this only by refilling my cup through the mentorship and coaching that comes with the scholarship."

When reflecting on her calling and Frederick Buechner's quote about calling being that place where where our "deep gladness" meets the "world's deep hunger," she writes:

"For me, this is exactly what the Japanese call Ikigai—a reason for being and the reason I get up in the morning. My Ikigai is simple: I love the hands-on work of taking care of people, and I know that our healthcare system in America is hungry for nurses who actually see the person, not just the patient.

In my daily work as an LPN, my "deep gladness" comes from the small, human moments. It’s that feeling of relief when I help a patient understand their treatment, or the sense of purpose I feel when I can make a difficult day a little easier for someone in pain. I’m good at the technical side of nursing, but I think my real strength is being a bridge between a complicated medical system and the real people who have to navigate it.

Right now, there is a "deep hunger" in our community for better, fairer healthcare. Moving from an LPN to a BSN at Saint Martin’s University is my way of stepping up to meet that need. I want to have the education and the authority to advocate for my patients and help fix the gaps I see every day in our clinics.

The Trinity Flame Scholarship and the coaching that comes with it are the perfect fit for where I am right now. I don't just need help with tuition; I want a mentor who can help me think about how to be a leader in nursing. I want to make sure that as I grow in my career, I never lose sight of my Ikigai. This program will give me the space to reflect on how I can use my new skills to serve my community with courage and integrity."

Reflecting on becoming a Trinity Scholar, '''I am so grateful. Receiving the Flame Scholars award means much more than financial support.
