🍔🎶❤️ Huge thanks to First Presbyterian Church of Everett for treating our families to an amazing BBQ!

From delicious food and all the fixings to music, stories, and thoughtful gifts of basic essentials for every family, they poured so much care into creating a memorable evening for our residents.

We are deeply grateful for partners who show up with such generosity and compassion. Thank you for making our families feel supported and celebrated!

With all the excitement and anxiety that accompany the first days of a new school year, children served by our shelter will have the opportunity to start the year with new-clothes confidence, feeling prepared and included thanks to Zonta Club of North Puget Sound, WA USA through a grant to fund our Back-to-School Children’s Clothing Program!

In the next few weeks, families staying at one of our shelter sites will be heading to local Ross stores with gift cards to purchase essential new clothing for the upcoming school year.

Our Food Shelves Need Your Help!

Our pantry shelves are looking a little sparse with the essentials, and we could use your help keeping them stocked for the families we serve.

We're currently most in need of:

✅ Canned vegetables
✅ Canned soup

We can accept food donations Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This week, sunshine and dolphins filled the minds of our children during Learning Hour! They are wonderful artists who create meaningful pieces of art that reflect their creativity and self-expression. We loved seeing their imaginations come to life through these bright and cheerful colors. 🌞🎨🌊

Summer is a time for vacations, barbecues and relaxing…

…for The Grove Church, it is time to improve the lives of those in our community. Their iHeart volunteer program began in 2012, working with 32 separate projects in Snohomish County. They have worked with Interfaith Family Shelter for over a decade. This summer, their iHeart program recruited 613 volunteers in total, ranging in age from 13-87. Together they donated over 10,000 hours to various projects this summer, including one at our Flagship Shelter in early July.

Because the Flagship Shelter is an older building, multiple projects needed to be addressed. With help from Interfaith staff, volunteers organized our storage garage, pulled weeds, cleaned yard waste, painted, cleaned the roof and our building’s exterior and parking lot. They spruced up high traffic areas, like the children’s play areas, and kept our donation closet organized and available. Several volunteers helped fix the shelter’s gutters and downspouts to prevent water. Multiple staff members remarked how the building looked "brand-new” when they arrived for work the following Monday. Thank you very much for your service, The Grove Church!

While improving the lives of our clients in tangible ways, the volunteer projects served another purpose. When asked what the experience meant to them, one of the volunteers remarked, “The people served during iHeart think we are giving to them, but really they are giving to us. To be part of something bigger than ourselves and know that we are making a difference is life giving.”

Ours is a small but mighty team. We welcome others interested in volunteering to help us sustain our mission of serving families with children experiencing homelessness.

We are grateful to share a bit of Meljar's story:

"Regardless of family size or type, Interfaith’s work is rooted in a 'housing first' philosophy. We believe family stability and success can flourish the best through stable housing.

Meljar, her husband, and five children are recent graduates of Interfaith Family Shelter’s Rapid Rehousing Program. Meljar sat down to talk about her experience, along with Gray Tinoco, our Rapid Rehousing Case Manager, “Meljar’s family is a ‘gold star’ family,’” Gray said. “Meljar is a hard worker and did everything asked of her throughout our Rapid Rehousing process.”

Meljar called Interfaith “every day” looking for shelter and remained dedicated to a process that can take up to six months to secure. Gray was “so encouraging,” Meljar told us, “I don’t know where we would be without Interfaith. We never felt left out. Gray always checked on us. We are part of a family. When we moved, we felt fully equipped.” Gray also worked with Meljar and WorkSource Washington to find employment. Her children will also still have access to our Children’s Program services.

When asked what makes Interfaith special, Meljar spoke for many families, “You help people get on their feet.” Gray will continue to check on them for the next year, ensuring they receive the support they need while they continue to make themselves pillars of our community."
