In recognition of the 250th birthday of our Nation and the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, the Responder Shield™ is a symbol of patriotism and unity.

We will be unveiling this bigger than life Shield in Indianapolis Indiana on Thursday June 18th during the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association 80th State Convention with a program including elected officials, firefighter, ems personal, law enforcement and members or our armed forces beginning at 9:00 AM in the back parking lot of the Wyndham Hotel 2544 Executive Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46234

While you are there, you can watch this year's Skills portion of the Jr Firefighter of the Year contest; attend seminars on Hazmat, Safe Haven Baby Boxes, or Teaching the Youth of Tomorrow; watch the open judging portion of the State Miss Flame contest; and visit one of our largest vendor shows in many years (list of vendors in the comments). No registrations fees required for these events.

The Indiana Volunteer Firefighter's Association - IVFA would like to thank the Hoosier Burn Camp for once again allowing us to partner with Protechs Restoration of Fort Wayne to cook and serve meals on Visitors Day.

We are honored to support this amazing program and the incredible campers, families, and volunteers who make it such a special experience. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of it!

Reminder: Convention registration price increases to $135 after June 1st. If you plan on coming, you need to get your paperwork submitted ASAP. This is really important for us to give an accurate food count. Please Call Steve A. or Bev Vanlandingham if you have questions on registrations.

If you are having trouble with hotel reservations at the Wyndham, please call and ask for Troy in the Sales office. Links are still down, but he can manually make your reservation for you.

Miss Flame & Jr. Firefighter parents: there is a room already assigned to you and your contestant. Call and have Troy to have a credit card added to that reservation. Call me if you run into issues. S. Anderson

A friendly reminder that the 2026 EMS District Provider Forums being in ONE WEEK!! We will kick off at MADE in Plainfield on May 21, 2026, during EMS Week. Registration in ACADIS is strongly encouraged.

A flyer is attached and the link at the bottom of the email has detailed information and registration information.

Join Indiana EMS leaders for 6 CE hours and collaboration on key EMS topics.

The in-person forums offer EMS providers the opportunity to earn 6 hours of continuing education toward certification renewal while engaging directly with leadership from the Indiana State EMS Office.

These forums are designed to create meaningful connections and foster collaboration across the EMS community. Attendees will participate in discussions covering a wide range of topics, including legal and legislative updates, operational practices, training and education initiatives, certification and licensure processes, Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) and EMS/Fire data trends.

Beyond the educational content, this event provides a valuable platform for providers to share ideas, address challenges and explore innovative solutions with statewide leadership and peers from their region. It is not only a time to learn but also an opportunity to strengthen relationships and build partnerships that advance EMS in Indiana.

Note: Start and end times will be in the local time zone.

Please register for this forum through the ACADIS portal so we can accurately gauge attendance. On the day of the event, attendance will be verified and recorded in ACADIS to ensure you receive your continuing education.

There is no registration/participation fee.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association 🌸

Today, we honor the incredible mothers, grandmothers, wives, daughters, and mother figures who support our firefighters and EMS personnel every single day. Your strength, sacrifice, patience, and love help keep our fire service families strong — both at home and in our communities.

To the moms who answer late-night calls with understanding, who hold families together during emergencies, and who serve alongside us in the fire service: thank you for all you do.

We wish every mother a safe, joyful, and love-filled Mother’s Day! ❤️🚒

🔥 Mental Health Friday | IVFA 🔥
Reset Before the Next Call

The week can wear on you—calls, work, lack of sleep, and everything in between. Before heading into the weekend or the next tone, take a moment to reset.

Signs you might need a reset:
• Feeling drained or mentally checked out
• Short patience with others
• Trouble relaxing, even when things are quiet

Take 10–15 minutes today to:
• Step away from the noise
• Get some fresh air
• Clear your head
• Do something that helps you decompress

For Firefighters:
You perform better when you’re mentally recharged.

For Leadership:
Encourage your crew to take that time. A strong team isn’t just trained—it’s mentally ready.

Reminder:
You can’t pour from an empty tank.

Finish the week strong—and take care of yourself so you’re ready for what comes next.
