The McCutchanville Fire Department is proud to rent our facility to the public for a variety of different events. The gym was added to the McCutchanville School #3 in 1950 just prior to the school closing. Within the last few years many renovations to the gym to allow for the best experience. Included in our facility is a medium sized gym which can be used to play basketball games, or host a large event. There is a stage which can be used for presentations or plays. And additionally we have tables and chairs available for use. Both men and woman’s bathrooms are recently renovated and available in the building.

Trash cans are available in the gym and all trash is to be disposed of at the end of rental into the dumpster located outside of the double set doors closest to the women’s restroom. The gym is also expected to be left in the condition in which it was found to ensure the best experience for all parties that will be renting the facility.

Recently the facility has noticed a big uptick in abuse and vandalism from renters. To keep the facility at a reasonable rate and a nice place to be, we ask that you treat our home like your home. Please remain in the gym portion of the building, not the areas blocked off. If you have any questions please feel free to send a message to:

Vanderburgh County is now at the highest level of local travel advisory. This means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. During a "warning" local travel advisory, individuals are directed to:

- Refrain from all travel;
- Comply with necessary emergency measures;
- Cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans; and
- Obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.

Our crews have been out all night and the roads have become considerably worse over the last couple hours. Please stay home as the roads are very dangerous at this time.

McCutchanville Fire Department would like to share a few winter weather driving tips. Please use extreme caution if you must get out during inclement weather.

*Stay home. Only go out if necessary. Even if you can drive well in bad weather, it’s better to avoid taking unnecessary risks by venturing out.

*Drive slowly. Always adjust your speed down to account for lower traction when driving on snow or ice.

*Accelerate and decelerate slowly. Apply the gas slowly to regain traction and avoid skids. Don’t try to get moving in a hurry and take time to slow down for a stoplight.
Remember: It takes longer to slow down on icy roads.
Increase your following distance to five to six seconds. This increased margin of safety will provide the longer distance needed if you have to stop.

*Know your brakes. Whether you have antilock brakes or not, keep the heel of your foot on the floor and use the ball of your foot to apply firm, steady pressure on the brake pedal.

*Don’t stop if you can avoid it. There’s a big difference in the amount of inertia it takes to start moving from a full stop versus how much it takes to get moving while still rolling. If you can slow down enough to keep rolling until a traffic light changes, do it.

*Don’t power up hills. Applying extra gas on snow-covered roads will just make your wheels spin. Try to get a little inertia going before you reach the hill and let that inertia carry you to the top. As you reach the crest of the hill, reduce your speed and proceed downhill slowly.

*Don’t stop going up a hill. There’s nothing worse than trying to get moving up a hill on an icy road. Get some inertia going on a flat roadway before you take on the hill.

With today being New Years Eve , McCutchanville Fire Department along with Logan's Promise would like to remind you of the safe rides program. If you plan to go out, make sure you have a ride lined out before you go. This could prevent so many accidents from potentially happening.

Take advantage of this free ride program and let’s keep everyone safe this holiday season. Let’s make sure everyone makes it home safely.

🎉Getting a free safe ride home on New Year's Eve is really simple. If you have the Lyft app, you can use the code SAFENEWYEARS2025 to receive up to $25 off of your ride home. Keep in mind that this free ride is to get you home, NOT to the next bar or party. This service is available to residents of Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson counties. The Lyft code is available for one ride on New Year's Eve from 11 pm (12/31) until 3:30am (1/1).
