Arcata Marsh Breeding Bird Survey 2026 🦅

Dates: May 7, 21; June 4, 18; July 2, 16, and 30; August 13, 27

Meet: Rob Fowler at 8 am at G Street parking lot at Arcata Marsh for 2-3 hour survey of breeding birds in various areas of the Marsh.
• Help contribute breeding bird data to the Arcata Marsh
• Learn how to look for breeding birds and how to code breeding bird activity
• Learn how to contribute to the statewide California Bird Atlas (California Bird Atlas - Discover a new world of birding..._)
• Anyone can join—from beginner to advanced birders— and start learning how to contribute breeding bird data to the California Bird Atlas while learning more about Arcata Marsh’s breeding birds!

We'll be hosting monthly Pelagic trips again this summer!

Join us as we go offshore from Humboldt Bay in search of seabirds, whales, dolphins, and other wildlife. RRAS leaders will be on board to help spot and identify wildlife. These are very popular trips, are limited to 15 people per trip, and cost $150 per person, with discounts available for students. Field trip dates include: May 10th (Sunday), June 20th (Saturday), July 18th (Saturday), August 15th (Saturday), September 5th (Saturday), October 10th (Saturday), and November 21st (Saturday).

Our Annual Banquet & Auction are quickly approaching! Saturday, February 21st

The silent auction usually features beautiful natural history items, often bird-related, such as carvings, original paintings, special services, as well as a variety of many other items. We will feast on a delicious, gourmet dinner by Cassaro’s Catering, and dessert from Ramone’s Bakery. Ivan’s talk will follow (see image).

Cost: $50/person until February 18, when it goes to $65. Send check made out to RRAS to P.O. Box 1054, Eureka, CA 95502, email [email protected] with Banquet in the subject line, or phone (707) 496-6581. The last day to make reservations is February 19th.

Please join the Redwood Region Audubon Society for the 2025 Christmas Bird Count. Please contact the compilers below if you would like to participate in their count. Del Norte on December 14, 2022, with Lucas Brug [email protected] ; Arcata on December 20, 2022, with Tony Kurz [email protected]; Willow Creek on December 27, 2022, with Max Brodie [email protected] ; Tall Trees on January 2, with Ken Burton [email protected]; Centerville on January 4, with David Juliano [email protected].

Orientation will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, at the Masonic Lodge, 251 Bayside Road, Arcata. Trip leaders will discuss the Del Norte, Willow Creek, Centerville, Arcata, and Tall Trees counts. All are welcome!
