North Coast Coop Members - vote for us to be a 2027 Seeds for Change recipient! As a very small nonprofit, your support makes a huge difference for our grassroots advocacy. Our work helps represent the voices of bus riders, pedestrians, bicyclists, and everyone who shares our roads -- particularly those of diverse abilities, ages, and backgrounds! Thank you to everyone who has voted for us and supporting our neighbors who bus, roll, bike, and walk to get around Humboldt!

Students are demanding ✊ DON’T DEFUND THE BUS 🚍 Over 1/4 of the CalPoly Humboldt student body signed on to the petition by Young Democratic Socialists of America, and now is the time to support as a community member! You can stand in solidarity with students by 1) emailing the CPH admin, especially Mike Fisher ([email protected]) in support of the student petition, advocating to continue funding ALL bus services that have been affected by recent cuts, including Arcata’s evening bus services, Valley West services, and HHM shuttle services. 2) Join us at next Tuesday’s University Senate meeting (which both CPH President & VP of Finance are apart of) to support student speakers as they speak up for bus riders.

Are you a Humboldt, Del Norte, or Mendocino-based bus rider who is interested in taking part in a paid study? The University of
California, Davis is conducting research on how people find and use information about public transit and how this information can be improved. Selected participants will receive a $30 gift card after completing the 5 minute pre-interview screening survey (linked in the comments) and hour-long interview. Meet Max - one of our local bus drivers and AFSCME union stewards! From connecting rural riders with jobs across the county, to supporting community members through life's highs and lows -- being a bus driver is more than just sitting behind the wheel. While some parts of Max's story are unique to Humboldt (because where else would a spontaneous jam sesh start on the last bus of the night?), others are shared with many rural riders across the country. Transit connects and uplifts everyone in our community, and is only possible because of drivers like Max.

Calling all Bike Valet Volunteers & public health supporters! We are bringing the Bike Valet to the 2026 Humboldt County Free Healthcare Clinic at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium. Bike valet shifts are available all day long Friday through Sunday, with lunch provided. Come support our team and community bike access to local events by signing up for a shift! Do you ride the Amtrak bus when traveling out of the North Coast? Now is the time to speak up and protect those services!

San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA), the agency that oversees the Gold Runner Thruway Route 8 Amtrak Bus (the only direct, long-distance bus between Humboldt County and the San Francisco Bay Area) recently published a draft "Thruway Bus Study Report" that makes clear that the North Coast could be targeted for service cuts in the near future.

SJJPA is collecting public input ahead of this study - and your voice can make a difference! If you have used this service, we encourage you to leave a detailed comment on the study's public input form, and include any details possible about your experience and what reducing services would mean to your household.

Send us a message to learn more about the issue, how to share your story as we advocate for protecting existing services, and further ways to get involved with Humboldt's Transit Justice Movement!
