We're honored to recognize the lasting impact of Christel A. Schoenfelder through the Christel A. Schoenfelder Scholarship.

The Christel A. Schoenfelder Scholarship honors the life, advocacy, and enduring legacy of Christel A. Schoenfelder, a devoted Kids’ Chance of California Board Member, attorney, and champion for injured workers and their families.This scholarship helps students whose parents have been seriously or fatally injured at work, carrying forward Christel’s legacy of advocacy, compassion, and service.

Now joining the David DePaolo and Janice Murphy Scholarships, these named awards provide additional opportunities beyond our annual scholarship program.

Today we celebrate Angie Harder, who began a well-earned retirement in July!

Since the inception of the Kids’ Chance of California Advisory Council in 2017, Angie has been an invaluable champion of our mission. Under her leadership and encouragement, State Fund became the organization’s most generous and engaged corporate sponsor. Not only does State Fund provide more funding but the organization refers the most scholarship applicants - double-digit recipients in most years. They also provide a network of volunteers. State Fund team members have served on the scholarship committee, helped run events, and acted as passionate ambassadors for Kids’ Chance across California for over a decade.

Angie’s greatest legacy may be the lasting culture of giving she created at the State Fund—one that will continue serving students and families for years to come. Thank you, Angie, for your dedication, generosity, and heart. You will be deeply missed! 💙

Day 4 of Kids' Chance Awareness Week: Thank You, Volunteers! 💙 Kids' Chance of California would not be where it is today without the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to support our mission. From serving on committees and organizing events to helping with fundraisers and scholarship efforts, our volunteers play a vital role in creating opportunities for the children of injured workers.

Day 3 of Kids' Chance Awareness Week: Meet Nayeli 💙 At just 10 years old, Nayeli's life changed when her father became the victim of workplace violence. With the support of Kids' Chance, she went on to attend San José State University, earning degrees in Theatre Arts and Radio, Television & Film.

Today, Nayeli continues to inspire others as a Kids' Chance of America Ambassador, helping students see that their dreams remain within reach. We're excited to have Nayeli join us at our Driving Futures Forward Golf Tournament this Friday, where she will perform the National Anthem before the sh***un start. ⛳

Her journey is a powerful reminder of the impact educational opportunities can have on a student's future.

Today officially kicks off national Kids' Chance Awareness Week focused on celebrating the impact we've made together and the heart of our mission: the kids! Join us in making a difference for the kids of fatally or seriously injured workers throughout California.

Kids' Chance of California (KCCA) is again honored this year that the Honorable Todd Gloria, Mayor of the City of San Diego, has issued a proclamation designating this week as Kids' Chance Week! This recognition highlights the work KCCA has done supporting students throughout California since 2012 by awarding 416 scholarships totaling more than $2.6 million in educational assistance. Thank you San Diego for standing with KCCA and supporting our mission!
