We’re excited to announce that Boricuas Unidos de Elgin has been invited to collaborate with Love on the Lawn for a special ALL-DAY community celebration on Saturday, September 5th in Elgin!

This collaboration gives us the opportunity to bring many of the beloved elements of BoricuaFest to the community in a new format—while joining together with one of Elgin’s biggest community events. 🇵🇷🤝🏽❤️

Here’s what you can expect:

🇵🇷 BoricuaFest Food & Artisan Vendors | 11 AM–10 PM
Shop, eat, support local businesses, and enjoy the flavors and culture of our community throughout the full event!

🛝 BoricuaFest KidZone | 11 AM–4PM
Family-friendly cultural activities and inflatable with slide!

🎶 BoricuaFest Entertainment | 11 AM–2 PM
We’ll be kicking off the day with our BoricuaFest entertainment lineup and celebrating our culture through music and performance.

🌟 Love on the Lawn | 2 PM–10 PM
Starting at 2 PM, the celebration continues with the Love on the Lawn entertainment lineup, featuring a special performance by MÝA headlining the evening!

This is more than an event—it’s an opportunity to come together, celebrate our cultures, support our local community, and create something even bigger together.

Cooking, Culture & Community 🇵🇷✨

Last weekend, BUE hit the road for a special field trip to Cooking with Omi! 🥘🇵🇷

We started the experience with some delicious bites from Ponce and The Marinated Kitchen, enjoyed a quick Medalla 🍺, and then it was time to meet the amazing Omi!

We got to watch her make sofrito from scratch, hear her share her love of Puerto Rican food and culture, and even walk away with an exclusive copy of her book featuring the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture Book Award seal — AND Omi’s signature! 📖✨

And of course… we got pictures! 📸😍

A special ¡GRACIAS! to the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture for hosting this wonderful event and creating a space where our community can celebrate, preserve, and connect with our culture. 🇵🇷❤️ The museum is the only accredited Puerto Rican museum in the United States, making experiences like this even more meaningful!

And we couldn’t head home without one more Puerto Rican food stop! 😋🇵🇷 Shoutout to Buen Provecho Food Truck for hooking us up with some delicious sofrituras for the ride home. Because obviously… the field trip needed a food encore! 😂🔥

From sofrito to sofrituras, books to pictures, and lots of laughs along the way — it was a day filled with food, culture, community, and orgullo Boricua. 🇵🇷💙❤️🤍

¡Qué chévere! We’re already looking forward to our next adventure. 🇵🇷✨

A Message to Our BoricuaFest Community ❤️

We want to sincerely apologize for the delay in communicating with our ticket holders, vendors, performers, sponsors, and supporters following the cancellation of BoricuaFest.

We understand the frustration and disappointment, and we hear you.

The past two weeks have been spent exploring every possible option—not simply relying on the standard no-refund policy stated with ticket purchases and vendor applications, but looking for meaningful ways we could give something back to the community.

We are now ready to share several options we’ve been working on, and a detailed communication has been emailed to all ticket holders and vendors.

We know the wait has been difficult, and we truly appreciate your patience, grace, and continued support. BoricuaFest was created for our community, and we want to handle this situation with the same care and commitment that went into creating the event in the first place.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make this right.
