We extend our sincere thanks to all the Brothers and distinguished guests who joined us for today’s time capsule unveiling at the Elgin History Museum.

Your presence and support made this occasion especially meaningful, and we are grateful to have shared such a historic moment with you.

One hundred years ago, the Brothers who sealed this time capsule preserved a glimpse of their world for future generations. Today, we had the unique opportunity to open that window to the past and reflect on the lives, values, and legacy of those who came before us.

As we look back on their contributions, we cannot help but wonder what future generations will think of the world we leave behind, and what they will discover when they look back on us a century from now.

As they once looked ahead to us, so too must we look ahead to those who will follow...

One hundred years ago, the Brothers of Elgin Lodge No. 117, along with other Masonic bodies, placed meaningful items, messages, and memories into a time capsule — sealed with the hope that one day, the Lodge and its Brethren would still be here to open it.

Now, nearly a century later, that day has arrived.

You are warmly invited to join us for the unveiling of this historic time capsule as we honor the legacy entrusted to us and celebrate the enduring bonds of Brotherhood that have carried us from 1926 to today.

This event will feature a historical presentation, participation from several organizations that have called home over the years, and the long-awaited unveiling of the capsule’s contents. Among its treasures may be items preserved from an even earlier time capsule recovered after the Monitor Lodge building on Spring Street was lost to fire in 1920.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, a member of the community, or simply curious, we would be glad to have you there. Come be part of a once-in-a-generation moment, connect with others, and experience a piece of Elgin’s history coming back to life.
