EDIT: ADOPTED!

The official photos of our newest pup have arrived! Enjoy!

Eli
Labrador/Shepherd mix
Male, 3 months old

Meet Eli! This adorable boy transferred to us from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.
He arrived as a stray along with 8 other siblings who have since been adopted. He was pensive as he waited alone in his kennel. We had to scoop him up for transfer when we laid eyes on him.
Eli is currently in foster care in a home with 5 dogs (including long-term foster, Penny!), 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 birds.
Though he is a puppy who wants to play with his dog and cat friends, he is an introvert who wants to get to know people before opening up. As such, he's a quiet thinker when meeting new people and will carefully observe them from a safe distance. Safe socialization is always a work in progress, so we look forward to seeing if he will remain an introvert or change as he grows. With continued socialization and dedication, he will continue to thrive.
He is currently eating 4 times a day, every 4 hours, with snacks in between. This will change over time as we keep an eye on his weight and diet needs of this growing pup.
His puppy pad skills are excellent thus far, though we do go out for potty breaks every 2-3 hours during the day, with one potty break in the middle of our usual 8 hour sleeping period.
Eli is one sweet pup looking for a home that is going to continue to set him up for success!

Meet our newest puppy! So new, we're still thinking of a name for the little guy. This adorable boy transferred to us from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility.

As the transfer occurred on 6/16, we are barely getting to know him. We look forward to giving him a name and his official photoshoot in the near future, so stay tuned for updates!

It's time to hop aboard the adoption train for another story in waiting! All aboard!๐Ÿš‚

Coda (fka as Hank, and also Skunky), one of Amara's 11 pups, has officially been adopted, again!
Skip to the paws (๐Ÿพ) below if you already know their journey, otherwise here it is in case you missed the backstory of Amara and pups:
Coda transferred to us from one of our shelter partners, the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, in February of 2023.
We received a special request for the transfer of a German Shepherd mix mom who had not only just arrived at their shelter but delivered 11 pups! Two girls, nine boys!
With all shelters bursting at the seams for quite some time now, they needed a quiet place for mom and pups to receive some extra tlc while also freeing up some much-needed space at their shelter. We made an appointment to scoop up Amara (mom) and pups when the pups were just 6 days old!
As you may have been following along through numerous previous posts, we unfortunately played a lot of red light, green light when it came to their adoption availability due to a number of curable health issues they unknowingly transferred with. It is also no fault of the shelter's as they received Amara as an emaciated and pregnant mom from the public with no indications of other health issues. Along with current record low adoptions felt across all shelters & rescues, they have hung around much longer than expected. This in turn meant missed opportunities when pups are at their highest adoption peak of 8-10 months of age.
Through suspected allergies and holds for further observation, to confirmed scabies and lengthy scabies treatments, to a papilloma virus that remained dormant in Amara that reared its head and spread to most of her pups, it was quite the journey to get Amara & pups through their ailments while also doing our best to protect the other dogs in our care. With careful cross contamination protocols, numerous vet appointments, determination, and long hours, Amara & pups overcame their struggles and were able to make their public debut in August!

๐Ÿพ Flashback over! Here is the continuation of Coda's adoption:
Coda was adopted by a family in August of 2023. At the time, we were told he would be supervised in the yard and coming to work with the owner. Unfortunately, he was left unsupervised in the low-fenced yard when they weren't available and began jumping over it on several occasions. We are grateful that he wasn't hit by a car, as he lived near a busy street with a blind corner.
We were contacted by the adopter in October of 2024, requesting a return. It is then that we learned of the nature of his living arrangement and tightened our fence requirement policy for future adoptions. Unless a dog is a guardian breed, leaving a dog unattended in a yard is a recipe for eventual trouble.
We picked him up from the home and took him back to the rescue where he was happy to get reacquainted with his remaining siblings!

In early September of 2025, he started his foster-to-adopt to make sure he was a good fit. He fit in well with his new Australian Shepherd mix sister and their cat, becoming an official part of the family in late September of 2025!

Coda, it's not often that dogs adopted from us get more than one send-off. While things didn't work out in your previous home, it led you to your current home which is exactly where you needed to be!
You are still the big, sensitive softy that I remember. Your new mom told us all about your ventures with your new dog and cat siblings, Pye and Tule Fog! She also tells me you're as cuddly, affectionate, and polite as you've always been.
We still have five of your brothers and one sister here at the rescue, and they're doing great in their play groups while they search for their forever homes. Your sister, Pumpkin, is still a happy addition to my home and is as sweet as you all are!
Enjoy sniffing the flowers, hanging out with your new family, playing chase and tug-of-war with Pye, and carrying all your stuffed toys around your home!

Baguette is still trucking along at the rescue! He enjoys his favorite chew toys, rough and tumbling with his friends, nibbling the staff, and can be seen rolling around to scratch his back in the attached video ๐Ÿ˜†

We are still looking to meet his original fundraising goal of $6500 for our cost intensive little boy ๐Ÿ˜…
Additionally, if you are a Frenchie enthusiast and love shelling out cash towards this breed prone to health issues, Baguette is looking for a home!

๐Ÿซถ While the total spent on Baguette's medical care thus far has exceeded our fundraiser, we will end all fundraising campaigns once we reach our initial fundraising goal and all donors will receive a commemorative card with Baguette's paw print and a special message from our Operations Manager, Jessica Garcia.

With generous donations from Marci G., Gigi B., Tom F. & Cody, Shalabh A., The Wills Family, Christine R., Kara D., Carol C., Amanda G., Stacy S., Bruce W., Aileen G., Nicole C., Jessica G., Karen P., Cindy B., and donations collected from the public during our Adoption Events at Petco-Santee, Fido Fest, and the Walk for Animals, we are $3364 into our $6500 goal!

Updates: After seeing the doctor for a follow-up visit, my work restrictions have been extended to 6/17. This means our upcoming 6/6 adoption event at Petco-Santee has been cancelled. I am hoping to reschedule it when I have more information on my 6/17 follow-up appointment and will post another update at that time.

The good news is that I can now put pressure on my left leg. This means I can hobble around slowly for short distances or use my crutches for long distances.
Work doesn't end as we are just a small team. Our Kennel Assistant, Cameron, has been immensely helpful and working hard to care for the rescue pups and pick up the slack while I am reporting for duty but restricted to sit down work only.

Our Kennel Assistant, our neighbor, and our friends & followers have all been so supportive. I appreciate you all greatly!

Sadly, today's attendance at the Paws in the Park event was short-lived.
We were partially set-up when I tore my calf muscle while getting additional supplies, leaving me unable to use my left leg โ˜น๏ธ

A huge shout-out to Monica Gonzalez, Community Services Specialist, at City Government of Lemon Grove who organized volunteers to aid in breaking down and loading the pups and our partial set-up. I look forward to returning to next year's Paws in the Park, unbroken this time ๐Ÿ˜…
I would also like to thank GFWC - Lemon Grove Forward Club for donating dog food to us during our brief attendance. Thank you so much!

Our 6/6 event at Petco-Santee is currently on hold, though I am hopeful we can attend. I'll have additional information during my 6/3 doctor's appointment and will post an update if the 6/6 event will be cancelled.
I'm off to rest and return to strict office duty on Tuesday. Have a great weekend all!
Until next time, happy rescuing!

Dachshund mix
Male, 1 year old

Meet Frankie! This hot dog boy transferred to us from the San Diego Humane Society!
Frankie was found running at large on the streets near a San Diego Police Department. He was scared and cowering when we viewed him in his kennel, but he gave us a few quick wags as he wanted so badly to receive love. Once he was at our rescue, he meshed with his new friends and showed us that he is a sweet, sensitive boy that enjoys being cuddled and loved on. Once he gets to know someone, he is all tail wags and love and food motivated. He even started to climb our shoulders!
