🐣🐥 There’s nothing quite like the excitement of BABY CHICKS! 🐥🐣

Mrs. Fields’ 1st grade class at Dieterich Grade School had a special experience watching baby chicks hatch! 💛

From patiently waiting and watching the eggs to seeing those adorable little chicks make their grand entrance, the students got to witness one of nature’s amazing miracles! 🥚🐣

Through this hands-on experience, students learned about the life cycle of a chicken and the care it takes to bring new life into the world.

❤️ One of my favorite parts of Ag in the Classroom is bringing agriculture to life for students and seeing their excitement as they learn!

A big thank you to Mrs. Fields and her wonderful 1st graders for embracing this egg-citing adventure! 🐥🌱

🎃 A pumpkin story and a little imagination made for a fun visit with the preschoolers at Montessori University in Dieterich!

Lynn shared How Did That Get to My Table? Pumpkin Pie by Emily Dolbear, introducing students to the journey from the pumpkin patch to the kitchen. 🌱🥧

Then it was time for little hands to get busy! Students squeezed, rolled, and shaped pumpkin spice playdough into their own creations. Exploring its scent and texture added a sensory experience, while making different shapes helped strengthen the small muscles used for writing and other everyday tasks. 🧡

A sweet reminder that learning about agriculture can begin with a story and grow through play!

🎃 Pumpkin learning at Dieterich Grade School! 🌱

Lynn enjoyed visiting kindergarten through third grade to share how pumpkins grow and make their way from the farm to our tables!

🧡 Kindergarten and first grade explored pumpkin spice Play-Doh, making different shapes while practicing creativity and fine motor skills.

🥧 Second and third grade made pumpkin pie in a bag, practicing measuring, following directions, and combining ingredients while learning about the agriculture behind a favorite fall treat!

From a tiny seed to a delicious pie, pumpkins give us so many opportunities to connect agriculture with everyday life! 🚜🎃

🎃 Pumpkin fun with first grade at Southside Elementary!

Lynn enjoyed visiting the first grade classrooms to share about pumpkins and how they grow! 🌱

Lynn read How Did That Get to My Table? Pumpkin Pie by Emily Dolbear, helping students connect pumpkins grown on farms to a favorite fall treat. 🥧

Students explored the pumpkin life cycle, from a tiny seed to a vine, flowers, and finally a pumpkin ready for harvest.

🧡 Students also enjoyed playing with pumpkin spice playdough and making different shapes! Rolling, squeezing, and shaping the dough encouraged creativity while helping students practice fine motor skills and explore scent and texture.

Thank you to the teachers and students at Southside for welcoming Lynn into your classrooms for pumpkin learning and creativity!

Altamont Lutheran School 6th graders researched farmers markets in Illinois, had fun playing “Spot IL” focusing on the many Illinois farm products, and were surprised the horseradish capital of the world is in Collinsville, Illinois!

Students at Altamont Lutheran School in 7th grade studied Illinois farmers markets with an Ag Mag and played “Spot Illinois “ with the many products/byproducts of Illinois farms. Fun fact: there’s over 10,000 varieties of tomatoes.

Eighth graders from Altamont Lutheran School read facts about Illinois Farmers Markets. One curious item sold at some markets in Chicago is the cucamelon- a fruit that looks like a watermelon and tastes more like a cucumber.

🎃 Pumpkin learning at Discovery Christian School!

Lynn enjoyed visiting kindergarten through eighth grade to share how pumpkins grow and connect agriculture with science, food, and creativity! 🌱

🧡 Kindergarten and first grade made pumpkin spice playdough, exploring scent and texture while mixing and shaping their dough.

🥧 Second and third grades made pumpkin pie in a bag, connecting pumpkins grown on farms to a tasty fall treat!

🎯 Fourth through eighth grades made pumpkin catapults, exploring force, motion, and stored energy while practicing engineering and problem solving.

Students also explored the pumpkin life cycle and the important role pollinators play in helping pumpkins grow! 🐝

Kindergarteners at Altamont Grade School created a “Farm Web” with the many animals and crops from the farm, along with all the products made from them, then read “On the Farm, At the Market “.

Farmers Markets was the September topic for Altamont Grade School second graders. After reading the book “On the Farm, At the Market“ they filled their carts with food from animals, trees, and soil.
