EDIT: The flags have been downgraded as of Friday, May 29.

Please note the island is currently under Double Red Flags.
This means the water is closed due to dangerous rip currents.
DO NOT GET IN THE WATER DURING DOUBLE RED FLAGS.

If you are ever caught in a rip current, do not panic and do not swim against it. Follow these tips if in a rip:
-- Swim parallel: Swim sideways along the shore and out of the current until you are free.
-- Float and wave: If you cannot escape, float, tread water, and wave/call for help.
-- Angle toward shore: Once out of the current, swim or float diagonally back to the beach.

No pressure — you do not have to read the book to participate! Everyone is welcome to join the fun at 6 p.m. in the Plantation Room at the Magnolia Clubhouse on June 25.

The Club is reading The Only Woman in the Room, a World War II historical drama.

Bring a snack to share and your own beverage. We look forward to seeing you there! Owners, guests and renters are welcome!

As we solemnly remember the meaning of this day, we are reminded that freedom is not free. Our hearts go out to all those who have lost family members serving this great nation of ours. May we never forget their sacrifice.

To help protect our community’s beautiful natural surroundings, open fires are not permitted within The Plantation due to the abundance of vegetation. Grills may be used only when drought conditions allow, and Franklin County is currently under a countywide Burn Ban.

For the safety and enjoyment of all residents, guests, pets, and wildlife, fireworks are also prohibited within The Plantation and on the beach. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep our community safe.
