Did you know that October 1st is Black Dog Appreciation day? It was started in 2011 to raise awareness about the fact that dark coated dogs suffer from lower adoption rates. No one knows why this happens but one reason could be that black dogs don't photograph as well as other dogs or that they "fade" into the background in kennel situations when potential adopters walk through. Of course, anyone who has owned a black dog knows that they make just as great pets as any other color. Here at the Franklin County Humane Society we have a trio of gorgeous, shiny, black sweethearts that are looking for a forever home. Check out Missy, Reggie, and Sissy. 850-670-8417 FC Florida

Update: adopted
Cowboy is a 1 yr old velcro dog whose coat reminds us of a cow. He has patches and spots and a very unique swirl on his rump. Cowboy is a leaner. He's one of those special dogs who likes to be touching his person whenever possible. He will sit at your feet and look up adoringly, waiting for a treat or a rub behind the ear. Cowboy is a loving and gentle boy looking for a home. 850-670-8417 FC Florida
