The Open Door Dedicated to ending hunger in Dakota County, Minnesota through access to healthy food. 🥕 We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food.

The Open Door is Dakota County’s largest hunger relief organization, powered by neighbors helping neighbors. We make sure everyone who needs it has access to the freshest, healthiest food – delivered with dignity and care. Each month, we serve 25,000 people across Dakota County, and in 2024, we distributed more than 4.5 million pounds of food. We focus solely on fresh, perishable, and nourishing options, with over 75% of the food we distribute being fresh.

A lot has changed in just 6 weeks! Our new office spaces have gone from blueprint to reality, with walls in, lights on, and painters hard at work.

Next on the to-do list? Internet, ceiling tiles, carpet, and cubicle installation.

Did you know: much of our summer produce is grown in gardens throughout Dakota County? Each week, our Giving Gardeners donate heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, and peppers that they've lovingly tended and harvested in their own yards. That's hundreds of pounds of nutritious fruits and veggies, fresh off the vine 🥒🍅🥬

Studs are in place, electrical is in, and sheetrock is going up as we speak. 🤩

We're so excited about all that these new spaces will allow us to do. Thank you for your support as we continue our mission to eradicate hunger here in Dakota County. None of this would be possible without you.
