The Open Door Dedicated to ending hunger in Dakota County, Minnesota through access to healthy food. 🥕 We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food.

The Open Door is Dakota County’s largest hunger relief organization, powered by neighbors helping neighbors. We make sure everyone who needs it has access to the freshest, healthiest food – delivered with dignity and care. Each month, we serve 25,000 people across Dakota County, and in 2024, we distributed more than 4.5 million pounds of food. We focus solely on fresh, perishable, and nourishing options, with over 75% of the food we distribute being fresh.

School is officially in session! While school meals and snacks stopped over the summer, our Mobile Lunchbox Program stepped in.

🥪 You helped us provide more than 25,000 lunches

🍎Plus, an additional 24,000+ snack packs to keep kids' energy up between meals

💚Together, more than 200 volunteers gave nearly 1,000 hours to pack, transport, and hand out lunches all summer long

When more people need to eat, we build a longer table.

Starting in August, we will begin construction on an additional 8,206 square feet to our facility! We are so proud to be announcing this new chapter in The Open Door’s history, and we could not be here without the support of our community. Thank you!
