Never Underestimate a Woman Who Still Paints in Her Eighties!

We love this sweatshirt—and the woman wearing it!

An avid painter and Lifelong Learning instructor at The Center, Susan Thanas shares her passion for history by teaching The History and Culture of Russia.

She's living proof that creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning have no age limit!

Join us at The Center on Thursday, November 5, at 3:00 p.m. as we welcome author Lesley Mahoney O’Connell for a special afternoon celebrating her new book, Ripple Effects and Other Stories.

Set against the familiar landscapes of the South Shore—including a story set right here in Duxbury—this collection explores relationships, life's unexpected challenges, and the choices that shape our lives.

Lesley will be joined in conversation by local writer Tracey Palmer, whose debut novel, Alive Day, will be published in April 2027.

Come enjoy tea, thoughtful conversation, and a chance to connect with two talented local writers!

A rare bird sighting at The Center!

Our resident "birdwatcher" Regan was thrilled to spot an unusual species today — the elusive Caren Bird! Bright yellow, highly energetic, and known to make quite a scene!

No one does Halloween quite like the staff at The Center!

And we're just getting started... stay tuned for more Halloween fun!

Congratulations to Peter Andrew on receiving a Community Volunteer Award!

Peter is one of The Center’s super volunteers! From helping in our café and at author events to delivering food donations, volunteering at farmers’ markets, and chairing the Duxbury Half Marathon, Peter does it all!

A Navy veteran, Peter also dedicates countless hours to the Duxbury American Legion, including serving in the Honor Guard to honor fellow veterans.

We are so lucky to have Peter as part of The Center family!

Help us congratulate Peter with a 👍 or a comment below!

Join us for an Author Luncheon with Howard Mansfield!

We had the pleasure of hosting author and naturalist Sy Montgomery at The Center in 2024, and we're delighted to welcome her husband, acclaimed author Howard Mansfield, on Monday, October 26!

Howard will discuss his book, Invisible Monuments: Tribute, Memory, and the Summoning of the Past, a fascinating exploration of how we remember history and the stories behind our monuments.

And trust us… we're just getting started! 😂
