***LOCAL SUPPORT WANTED***

For those who may not know about Regional Old Colony Communications Center, we are a 911 Emergency Dispatch Center proudly serving six local communities (Hanson, Halifax, Hanover, Plympton, Duxbury, and Rochester) by answering the call for help and coordinating life-saving responses for Police, Fire, and EMS every single day. As the first point of contact in emergencies, our dispatchers work around the clock to ensure help reaches those who need it most.

In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we are hoping to partner with local vendors and small businesses to help celebrate the hardworking dispatchers behind the headsets. We are currently collecting donated items, gift cards, or services to raffle off to our team during this special week of appreciation.

Please consider supporting this event as it is a meaningful way to recognize the people who help keep our community safe while also highlighting and promoting the incredible businesses in our area. Thank you!

Another fantastic dispatch by the union members of the ROCCC! Not only did they dispatch out and get the necessary resources from the Rochester Fire Department but they were also able to quickly get Mutual Aid companies activated to respond to assist. While these calls aren’t the greatest to receive from a citizen’s perspective, these really showcase the great job that our dispatchers do on a daily basis for our member communities. They take pride in keeping our citizens and first responders safe!

Another great job by our union members on the “A” Shift getting the necessary information to responders in order to make a quick stop of the fire. Our regional dispatch model allows multiple dispatchers to make notifications for mutual aid and other services, allowing for quicker response & responders safety vs. the traditional single dispatch model where one dispatcher is trying to do this while listening to responding units. We are proud to support our fire departments and keep our responders safe everyday!

Another amazing outcome due to the awesome work that our members do everyday! Congratulations to union member and ROCCC Public Safety Dispatcher John Boncek for answering the call to save a life! We are so lucky to have you as part of the team!

Last month, Dispatcher John Boncek took a 911 call from Washington St in Hanover, for a party that was unresponsive and not breathing. Dispatcher Boncek immediately started CPR instructions with the caller and his partners sent both fire and police to the scene. Dispatcher Boncek continued EMD instructions until units arrived on scene and took over patient care.

We are happy to report that the patient made a full recovery! Deputy Director Tucker was proud to give a to Dispatcher Boncek. Way to go John!!

On May 4th, we celebrate International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) – a day dedicated to acknowledging the incredible courage and unwavering dedication of firefighters around the globe!

From battling raging bushfires that threaten our homes and wildlife, to rescuing people from burning buildings and assisting in countless other emergencies firefighters, and the teams that support them, are the unsung heroes of our communities. They work tirelessly, often in perilous conditions, putting their own lives on the line to protect us.

International Firefighters' Day also honours the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice or passed on before us. We remember their bravery and commitment, ensuring their legacy lives on.

Let's take a moment today to honour the bravery, commitment, and selflessness of firefighters everywhere. They are truly the heart of our communities.

* The date, May 4th, was chosen specifically because it is the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. It’s a time to remember their courage and dedication.

The Regional Old Colony Dispatchers Association and its members proudly thank our partner firefighters for their support over the years!
